This was truly an amazing person with so much talent the loss is clearly ours. Prayers fill our hearts and burst forth from our mouths to God asking him to let us remember clearly the love we have for this wonderful person gone from our lives never forgetting the joy we shared. Hebrews 6:10.

I am sorry to hear of Dr. Abid Al-Marayati's passing. He was a good colleague and comrade. He was a member of the Association of Black Faculty and Staff at The University of Toledo. His family has my deepest sympathies.

I was Dr. Al-Marayati's attorney. He was a special gift. I'm honored to have known you.

I am so sorry to hear of Abid's passing. He was a passionate man, a crusader for peace and justice, and I considered him a good friend. We worked together on international issues in Toledo and in around 2003 we spent a week together in Rome, Italy where I was living and he was interviewing at an American University. We enjoyed some wonderful meals together in Rome, but this was right before the 3rd war in Iraq. We were both disillusioned about the state of humanity despite the fact that the opposition to the war in Italy was evident everywhere with peace flags flying from almost every balcony. I cited Abid's stories of living in Baghdad as a child when muslims, jews and christians lived side by side in peace and his remembering of being taught to swim in the Tigris River by a jewish man. I shared this story in an article on Islamophobia Sweeping Europe that appeared in Counterpunch. His wisdom will be missed and his knowledge of the past will not be forgotten.

To the family of Dr. Al-Marayati,

Plesae accept my deepest sympathy on your lost. Although I did not take a class with Dr. Al-Marayati, I knew who he was and respected his knowledge. I had several conversations with in during the early 70's when I was a student. He contributed a lot to the University of Toledo and I hope people keep that in mind.

Please accept my profound sympathy. Much of what I learned from Dr. Al-Marayati has echoed during my work here in the Balkans.
