Robert, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a wonderful teacher and a very special person. I learned much during my seven years of studies with her and have taught my children (a violinist and a cellist) basic piano using techniques she taught me. I am so glad she was able to live such a full life doing what she loved. She touched many lives and truly made a difference.
Mrs. Shurtz gave me lessons for so many many years and her patience and dedication will always be remembered. She even taught my five yr old son for a short while. I remember her house, her piano, her style, the recitals, and the gift she gave me... it is all etched in my memory. I still play my last recital piece that I had with her, but now it will feel much more melancholy. Thank you dear Mrs. Shurtz for sharing your passion. I hope you know it lives on.
What a lovely, talented lady. It's great to see she traveled and enjoyed life. My prayers are with Robert. My mom and I always had the highest respect for your mom--I've continued playing the piano off and on since my lessons with her many years ago.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you! God bless you through this difficult time.
I remember your mother from grade school and what a nice and stylish lady she was. I will keep you in my prayers at this time.
