Mary,Doug,Tim and family, just found about Joe's passing. for all the 17 years I worked for your family Joe made it our family. thoughts and prayers are with all of you
Mary, Doug, Tim - I am so sorry to read of your loss. The Janney family was such a part of my growing up in Trilby. My father going to the hardware store on Christmas Eve to buy mother's present became a tradition in the family.
He was an exceptional role model to many of the kids who grew up in Trilby. The neighborhood was a special place because of folks like Mr. Janney.
Mary, Doug and Tim, I am so sorry for your loss. Joe was more than a great man. He was a good husband, father friend and businessman. I received a call from Orlando and an Email from Antonio and we talked about the great time we had together at your house. They wished the distance was smaller and could be here to confort you. We all will miss him a lot. Ciao Carlo and Gail.
Mrs. Janney, Doug and Tim,

Mrs. Janney,Doug and Tim,
Deepest sympathy to all of you. So many memories of Trilby are connected with the Janney family - from the fire siren calling the volunteers to many trips into the store with my father. It was a pleasant chance encounter to talk with Mr. and Mrs. Janney at Manhattan's a few years ago. Condolences from Bob and me to all of you.
Sad to hear of Joe's passing. It brings back a flood of warm memories of the man and the way he treated my "Mom" as her employer and friend for so many years. I also don't remember a cross word to me as I worked at the store through my school years. Without a father of my own, Joe was a great role model for me.
Doug & Tim, How fortunate you were to have your Dad for all these years. He was an icon in the hardware industry, and someone I always enjoyed visiting with and learning from. I'm sure you will both miss him, but carry many wonderful memories. Your good friend and your National salesman. Lou Savage
My condolences to Mary Doug Tim and the rest of the family
To the entire Janney family our deepest sympathy.
To paraphase Shakespare " his life was gentle and the elements in him so mixed that nature might someday stand up and say to all the world.....this was a very special man " Joe Janney was a very special man, that was well repected and loved by all who had the good fortune to to know him. A great loss to his lovely wife Mary, the entire Janney family, and the entire community. My deepest sympathy.
My deepest sympathy to the Janney family, may the love of friends and family bring you comfort during this difficult time.
Tim and family, Please accept my heartfelt condolence on the loss of your loved one.
Mary,Doug,Tim and families,
Joe did so much for so many. We'll always appreciate the kindness you and Joe extended to my parents, especially when they became very ill. Joe lived his life well and we'll all be left with fond memories of him. Imagine the greeting in heaven by the Trilby firemen. Let the card games begin!
Love, Darlene and Billy Smith
You had a great hardware!
To The Janney Family:
So very sorry for your loss!
Ah, the memories the Hardware store brings back!
My grandparents, my parents, and my uncles go way, way back with the Janney family!
My grandparents were Frederick and Julia Wistinghausen who lived on Smith Road. In fact, two streets off Smith Road are named "Frederick" and "Julia" Drives after my grandparents. My Mother, Minnie Wistinghausen Powers Allison, is still living in Florida. She is 103 years old! Her brothers, Lawrence and Kenneth Wistinghausen are both deceased.
Mr. Janney was a legend in Trilby, as was his family! What a nice, nice man!
I will tell my Mother of Mr. Janney's passing and I know she will be very saddened by the news.
(When my parents eloped on July 28, 1933, they rented an apartment above the drug store in Trilby that I believe was owned by the Janney family!)
God Bless you all.
God speed, Mr. Janney.
In Sympathy,
Evelyn Powers,
