In my haste this morning I forgot to sign our message. Charlie was our next door neighbor the entire time he lived in Deer Run. I also forgot to mention that Charlie always had a remarkable twinkle in his eyes! We will miss him.

Charlie was absolutely the best neighbor anyone could ask for! His upbeat attitude all throughout his years of caring for Rachel and then in his own time of suffering stands as a remarkable example for all.
We will miss his cheerful smile, his tales of Belgium, and seeing him sitting at the table each morning reading his newspaper as we looked out our kitchen window. It was a privilege to know this wonderful man!

Charlie was one of the kindest men we have ever met. He always had a smile on his face and he will be greatly missed in our Deer Run community.

To Charles' family:

Charles was a one-of-a-kind neighbor who always had a kind word to say about anyone or anything. When he asked me to tell the community that he was afflicted with cancer a few years ago, I and others were devastated. But he showed us how to live with that horrible news with grace, and even some sense of humor. His goal was to reach his 95th birthday and he did with some room to spare. His smile and charm will be missed by everyone. God rest, my friend.
