I was saddened to hear of Mr. Schmidt's passing. I attended Maumee high school from 1951-1955 and he wasone ofmy favorite teachers.
I send my sincere condolences.I was a high school class-mate.I entered VCHS
at age 12 from country school.I hated
gym class, I ws smaller and had no
sports exposure in country school
George defended me and befriended me
and I have never forgotten.

Have fond memories of Mr. Schmidt (MHS class of '61). He was always very fair, an excellent listener, and was thrilled when he learned I had joined the USMC :-). My family and I also saw him Sundays at the United Methodist Church. Sympathy and prayers to his family...Godspeed Mr. Schmidt, you will always be remembered and missed...
My condolences to Mrs. Schmidt and to my former Maumee High School classmate George on the passing of her husband and his father. Mr. Schmidt was not only an outstanding guidance counselor, he was a real gentleman.
Donna, When I first came to Maumee,George accompanied me to the District Court as a last step for me to become a U.S. citizen. Afterward you and George invited us to a dinner at your home to celebrate. We shall never forget your kindness. You are in our prayers. Han & Won Ryu
DONNA AM IN FLORIDA WHEN WE HEARD OF GEORGE'S PASSING. WE GO BACK A LONG WAYS WITH YOU AND GEORGE, STARTING WHEN HE WAS STUDENT TEACHING AT MAUMEE HIGH. I HAD THE PRIVILAGE OF BEING ONE OF GEORGE'S FIRST STUDENT ATHLETES AND EVEN THEN, HE SHOWED WHAT KIND OF A GREAT GUY HE WAS. BOTH OF YOU WERE GREAT NEIGHBORS AND BETTER FRIENDS. DONNA, BE STRONG DURING THESE TOUGH DAYS GEORGE WOULD WANT YOU TOO HE WAS THE GREATEST........NOLAN & JUDY SHEPERD (AND DAUGHTERS..ROBIN, STACEY & HEATHER)
So sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one, who'll always be "Mr. Schmidt" to us (MHS graduates of 1955 & 1957). He was the kindest, most gentle, & compassionate teacher we ever knew, ... with a kind word for all, ...plus a sense of humor too. You are in our thoughts & prayers at this most difficult time. RIP "Mr. Schmidt"!
To fellow Spirit George (II) and the entire Schmidt family, your Dad was a great man and I still remember seeing his smiling face in the halls at MHS. He could be stern (when he needed to be) as well but I think all of us in the class of '67 really liked your Dad.
May your memories bring you all through your grief. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.
MR SCHMIDT WAS ONE THE GREATEST MEN I HAVE EVER KNOWN. I WAS ONE OF HIS STUDENTS IN 1955. HE WAS A HUMBLE, KIND AND UNDERSTANDING MAN.HE WAS THE EPITOME OF WHAT AN EDUCATOR SHOULD EXPRESS TO HIS STUDENTS.I LOVED THE MAN!
Donna, Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. George was so incredibly easy to get along with, he was a friend to all.

Mr. Schmidt made history so interesting. It is my favorite subject. To this day, The Times magazine is till my favorite. He made us go through it constantly. I was the third of my family to attend his class and his first words to me were: "Are there any more of you" He was a teacher that loved his work and his pupils. (Class of 1958-however moved my senior year)
Donna, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. George was always one of my favorite people at Maumee HS.

Dear Donna, George II, Wendy, Jeffrey, Anna and families: I am saddened today to read of the passing of George. I had the priviledge of working under his direction from 1973 until his retirement in 1977 as Secretary in Maumee H.S. Guidance. I am certain there was never a more diplomatic and positive Director Of Guidane in our school system. He quietly supported and directed the many students to their college choices with their well-being in mind. He was the very best in keeping his code and in passing it on to benefit the Maumee students. He was a tower of strength to many. With many good memories of our years together, I send my deepest sympathy and prayers for peace to you, his family. With love, Jeanne L. Parker
Our thoughts and prayers to the family of Mr. Schmidt. The Parker-Gosselin Family
Without question, one of the finest teachers and men it's been my privilege to know. Other former students will doubtless also recall the no cartilege nose stunt, which is still a hoot. Our deepest sympathy to Donna et al, he was a true impact player, who left this world better than he found it.
