Leyland family, Sister Johanna was a good person who cared deeply for the kids she taught.
When I was appointed principal of St Charles School in 1970 Sr Johanna was the assistant principal. Sister was excellent in all she did and she supported me completely. A true gem. i read Rob Erhart's comments and wept. He was an excellent boy. From 1970 - 1975 Sister was my faithful advisor. May she rest in peace. My love for St Charles is forever! Servus servorum dei describes Sister!!!!
My heartfelt sympathy to the Ursuline community and the Leyland family on the passing of Sr. Johanna, and Sr, Joachim. I came to the community as a boarder in 1942 the same year as Sr. Johanna came as a postulant. We, the boarders always had a close affinity to the postulants and "white veils." Hopefully she will meet up in heaven with our son, John, who was killed in a car crash this past summer. our prayers for all. Jane (Schmitt) Rensch, class of '47.
Leyland Family : I am HONORED to say that SISTER M. JOHANNA was my NAMESAKE, she had taught my Mom, Patricia Lee. Mom went back and forth between the NAMES of the two SISTERS, JOHANNA and JOACHIM and decided on : JOANNA MARIE. I always LOVE to SHARE the STORY of my NAMESAKE with my CHILDREN. I see she was born in Pennsylvania, and I have been a STEELERS fan for many years.
May you find peace in knowing she is now with our Lord and will pray for us.
To the Leyland family. My deepest sympathy on the passing of your Aunt. Eternal rest, grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her.
May she rest in peace and may her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
To the Leyland family: I am deeply sorry about the loss of your aunt. She was my 1st grade teacher at St. Charles over 40 years ago. She taught a number of my siblings as well. I will remember her particularly for two things: first, she insisted that my mother get speech therapy for me, because she said I was bright and people would judge me by my impediment (it was fixed in less than a year...I am forever grateful for her intervention); next, she showed up to my father's funeral 25 years after I had her in class. It clearly showed how devotedly she followed the lives of her students. As a final tribute to Sr. Johanna--go Tigers!
It was a pleasure and a blessing to take care of Sister Johanna at the Ursuline center. She was such a sweet kind person. I'm going to miss her but comforted in knowing that she is in Heaven with all of her family.
Dear Leyland Family, I was a student of Sister Johanna, and Sister Joachim at Good Shepherd School. What great teachers they were, and I am a better person because of them.God Be with you all during this time. Sharon (O'Brien) Brummett Rossford, Ohio
To the Leyland family; I am so sorry to read about the passing of your beloved Aunt, Sister Mary Johanna. She has live a very long, and productive life that I am sure was guided by the Holy Spirit. She is enjoying her eternal reward.
My deepest dympathy to your family. I remember the Leland family when I was in Toledo. May they enjoy being together up in heaven. Edna Mae Doss" Trotter
