Marvin dearest, your spirit is still sitting on my living room sofa
As we discuss how we are going to develop the Liberace musical...I remember your talk with Roger O. Hirson who did wind up writing us a terrific book and telling him the book needed
More "MILK"... you would be thrilled to know Liberace's struggle
as a Gay man in early Hollywood and Las Vegas is well represented in COURTROOM CARAMBA, and GEORGE, POUR
THE CHAMPAGNE...I know you would be thrilled to know the show is moving in the right direction! Had you been here, you would have written a brilliant Broadway score! We all miss you
So much, and you left us too soon!

A great, great talent is gone, far too soon. The world has lost a great artist but Mrs. Hamlisch has lost a great love. My thoughts and prayers are with her and all Mr. Hamlisch's family, colleagues, and public. May he rest in eternal peace.
The world has lost a great, great talent, and a generous, warm, person. I knew him from having the honor of playing with him on many amazing concerts with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. "Mr. Hamlisch" was also my teacher at Juilliard for the American Musical Theater class. Even with all the music he had in his mind, and all the many people he has met and remembered - he managed to find space to always remember me!
My favorite memory was your wolf trap concert in which you invited my 11 year old son, Nigel, to come up on the stage to conduct the NSO...
Thank you for this memory and your infinite spark of life... May peace be with all those who knew you and loved you dearly.
Terre; I am so sorry for your great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Between you and Barbra Streisand you made me a better person. I saw you in person and it lifted me so !! Thank you for all you talent.
Thank you for the wonderful music.RIP. Roy,South Africa
It was "our brush with greatness" when my husband and I and our two daughters sat behind Marvin and his wife at a broadway show in NYC. They were so gracious, friendly and down to earth. We have bragged to family and friends about him and his lovely wife for years. We have followed his career and know his talents will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family during this difficult time. He was a wonderful man.
We have lost Marvin - the greatest contemporary oomposer, pianist, conductor and entertainer - now he is conducting the angels in "one singular sensation". His humor is often overlooked - I have a wonderful memory of him with Merv Griffin on his show playing the piano and trying to outdo each other. Marvin ended up playing while sitting on the floor! What a talent we have lost and Heaven has gained. Thank you for all the great moments and the way we all were hearing your music.
Amazing musical talent...his legacy is the songs that we will continue to love....
Thank you for brightening the world with your melodies. We all are the better for your contributions. RIP, Mr. Hamlisch.
To the Hamlisch family I am so sorry for your loss.I'm a big fan, the way we were, the sting, the goodbye girl they are all so amazing I can't pick a favorite. I hope you can find a measure of comfort in prayer and in the scriptures, like John 6:40 that tells us there is going to be a ressurection and then we can see our dear loved ones again.
I WAS SADDENED TO LEARN OF THE SUDDEN PASSING OF ONE OF MY FAVORITE COMPOSERS. THE WORLD HAS LOST A
GREAT ARTIST IN THE PASSING OF MARVIN HAMLISCH.

Since I was 10 years old, in 1973...I was a fan of Marvin Hamlisch.
Whether movie or radio-he did GREAT on his songs.
And one thing I'll ALWAYS remember when he asked the audience,"Hey people...give me a word-a phrase-EVEN a name...and I'll make a song out of it." And he MOST CERTAINLY DID!
A great man! Thanks for all the great music. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. We will never forget the Pops Christmas Shows and the singing along with his wife and sister-in-law.
Marvin Hamlisch was a class act. My sincere sympathy goes out to his Family. I loved his music and so did my Family. He is gone way before his time, he will be missed by many followers of his music.

I had the opportunity to hear Marvin Hamlisch with the Milwaukee Symphony on New Year's day several years ago and it was the best concert I had been to years. His music was fantastic as well as his talent. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I am happy that we have his music to listen to in his absence, but know that he is in heaven making more beautiful music.
We have lost one of the best in what he put his mind to but mainly in MUSIC. Mr. Hamlisch might have been one the best composer there has ever been. The world will miss you, but you will live on for ever in the music you created.
What a treasure! How much we loved his music. Yet having been in audiences a few times, I know the personal loss for his family and friends is great. What a beautiful human being. We have lost a true American treasure.
Great music and terrific person - we shared Mr. Edgar Roberts;our Juilliard piano teacher and we both spoke at his memorial. You will be sorely missed.
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."-Psalm 116:15. Marvin played to the pulse of the Nation.

I loved his music. The Sting is my fav because I move the movie but the toe tapping music fit the bill. Prayers for your many friends, family and fans.
We lost a gifted and terrific man, that will be forever in the history books, but in our hearts, those that lived in his era. May his family find comfort in their time of loss.
My condolences to you for your loss. You and your family are in our prayers.
I thank you so much for being such an inspiration to me. I was so lucky to have a famous, beloved dance instructor in my life (Helene Charisse) to guide me to your beautiful music. I spent many hours rehearsing and listening intently, to each and every glorious note. I thank you, and bless you. You will be missed but never forgotten!
You brought happiness into so many lives with your beautiful music. Your music will live forever.
Rest in peace.
May your memory be for blessings.

marvin was a wonderful friend to me and to my wife polly draper, and our children nat wolff and alex wolff. i met marvin when he was a guest on the Arsenio Hall Show, where i was musical director. He came to me after the show and said i should be writing jingles and film and television scores, and he called his agent on the spot and set me up with a meeting and subsequent representation. Marvin went on to feature me as a jazz pianist with the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the National Symphony Orchestra. He and his wife Terre and my wife and I spent some wonderful times together. As well as an amazing talent, he was a sweet person.
Such a talent, great memories, Thank you
A talent that will be missed by all...

RIP Mr. Hamlisch
Thanks for the music!!!!!
I've admired Marvin Hamlisch and his music for many years. I especially love "A Chorus Line"; to this day, hearing "One" thrills me like the first time I heard it. My late husband Tim and I saw him perform in Minneapolis. What a night that was. It was like having a very talented friend play piano in our own living room. And of course, through his music, Marvin became a friend to scores of people he never met. I cried when I read of his passing. Thank you Marvin Hamlisch for your contributions to music and the theater. You were, and are a mensch. Shalom, you dear man.
he gave us the sound score to our lives what a treasure Deepest sincere wishes to his friends and family.
I was so honored to have the opportunity to enjoy your music over 10 years ago when you came to Fort Wayne,IN., and conducted the symphony there. It is still to this day one of the highlights of my life. I can never thank you enough for the melodies, the memories, and the music. Now may you conduct God's heavenly symphony.
Pure genius. His music will live on forever. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. The Hamlisch Family have my deepest sympathy.
When someone we love leaves us often there are no words, Mr Hamlisch leaves beautiful music that we will have always, God Bless a wonderful family and God Speed Marvin.
Marvin was a gentle, gracious, gifted, genius who blessed this world. His music legacy will live on forever. He inspired humanity with his music.
Our meeting of you and Marvin at numerous Kennedy Center Christmas Pops gave us a snippit of a 'sensational' couple. Your smiling face showed the love and support you had for this man.
May his music and memories bring you only comfort and happiness.
Our love and thanks for a lifetime of memories.
With our deepest sympathy,
Donna and Amado Fernandez
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. What a truly gifted man ,who will be sorely missed/
So sad to hear this. Mr Hamlisch was a great talent. And I never got to thank him for introducing me (and many others, I'm sure) to the ice cream at the Sylvan Beach Cafe in Baltimore. He raved about it from the Meyerhoff stage when he was guest pops conductor for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
My condolences to you for your loss. I used to work with your Mom at E&E and I had met you on several occasions.
p. 1255: 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
My deepest sympathy to you and your family for the loss of Marvin. I know for sure that if his Rabbi (Gelberman) was alive he would be saying watch over Terre and Marvin at this moment of deep sorrow. He is probably also saying "Keep the Music Playing" my dear friend and brother. May God protect his soul. With fond and loving memories, Jan Gelberman

My first memory of you was of your unbridled exuberance at your acceptance of your first Oscar. My last memory was seeing you last season with the Pittsburgh Pops. Your exuberance was still there....a little less 'unbridled'perhaps. You were a positive light on this earth. I will miss you very much. Rest in Peace, dear Marvin.

I met Mr hamlisch once outside the stage door of the masonic in toledo, i swear he drove up in a vw bug-the old original kind, possibly a loaner from a person at the masonic, but he was as kind and nice as could be signing an autograph for me.
To the family of Marvin Hamlisch it's always painful when we lose a loved one. My family hope that your family may find peace and comfortin Psalms 65:2.
Pittsburgh POPS will not be the same without you. What a wonderful and funny man you were. Thanks for the great memories.
God bless and guide u to his eternal light.
Marvin Hamlisch was a wonderfully talented songwriter with a terrific sense of humor. I saw him perform in Houston back in the 80's and he interspersed his songs with many humorous stories that kept the audience engaged throughout the evening. He did his part in contributing to the greta American song book.
Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world but most importantly thank you for being a gentleman through and through.
There is not much to do when you are blind but let me tell you my husband could sit for hours and listen to you play that piano. It was his superior enjoyment of his life. I thank you for all those years of his enjoyment. May God Bless you, Louise Martin
You will now be conducting the angels..but I thought we would have you for many more years...I am in shock as I am sure is the whole world...Saw you many times over the years esp in Pittsburgh...loved your great sense of humor and intellect...R.I.P. and God Speed you to his arms....

To the family of Marvin Hamlisch:
May God bless you and give you comfort, peace and strength during this most difficult time. So sorry for your loss. Praying for you at this time.
Mr. Hamlisch was a distinct part of my early adulthood. Although I am not a fan of pop music, per se, the music he wrote for the stage and for films was part of the background music of my life. His fame and prominence came at exactly the time that I became an aware adult. His music will continue to be, for me, an important part of my history.
My condolences to Teri and her brother Ron for the loss of her husband and his uncle.
The world has lost a truly magnificnet musician, composer, and kind person. May he rest in peace. Our lives have been enriched by this most talented human being.
RIP - What a gifted, talented man. We will miss 'the music' as you died much too young. Thank you for your contribution to our generation.
Your music will live on. Thank you Marvin. God bless you.
My husband and I had the privilege of attending several of your concerts here in San Diego at Copley Symphony Hall. We just LOVED you. It was as though we were gathered in your living room as opposed to a concert hall. I am so sad tonight. I've loved your music since I was a little girl and will until my last day. May your music in heaven be as transcending as it has been here. ...."the last time I felt like this..."-Same Time, Next Year. 1978
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
What a shock. Too young to go. A great American composer. Music lovers will miss you.
My sincere condolences to the Hamlisch family. He brought great pleasure into my life with his music. His music insinuated itself into my brain before I was even aware of it and before I knew it I was mentally or vocally replaying his songs. What a loss for us all.
His musical brilliance never ceased to amaze me. I have been in awe of his talent and scores ever since the first time I saw A Chorus Line in 1975.
Thank you for your wonderful, legendary music. You will be sadly missed.
Great Pianist! Our condolences to his family.

God bless Marvin Hamlisch. I saw him perform in Bloomsburg, PA. There was no program of music. He improvised for hours. Amazing! He heard from a security guard at the Haas Auditorium that the mayor was a good singer. He called her up on stage never having met her and asked her what she would like to sing. She told him the name of the song and what key he should play it in. He found out after she blew him away with her singing that she had performed on Broadway!
My sincerely sympathies to Marvin's family and friends. He was a true genius who will be missed. I was fortunate to have met him at a Barbra Streisand concert and found him to be charming as well as brilliant. I will miss him and his wonderful music that will live on. I mourn his loss and the music that he would have created.
You will be missed by millions. Had the pleasure of seing you in person in Buffalo, NY at Kleinhans Music Hall. Marvin you are a genius and I've loved everything you have given us.

Today has been a very sad day for me. Marvin Hamlisch was a gift to the world. When I was twelve, I idolized him and that never changed. His talent, music, and personality touched me then and continues to affect my life. When I was sixteen, I saw him perform for the first time in San Antonio, Texas, and I had the pleasure and fortune of meeting him. He was 34 and a young, handsome man who gave me good advice.
Since then, I have seen him perform many times, in different places in the world. Every time was magical and touching. I will never forget him and his contributions to the world. RIP Marvin. You have made my life happier, through smiles and tears, your songs will always touch me. Go with G-d.

Marvin was not only an extraordinary, unique talent, but a generous, warm "mensch." Marvin shared his genius willingly and always with a captivating smile. I remember with great fondness his wonderful performance at the Hadassah 75th National Convention in Batimore, Maryland with the then Secy of State, George Schultz. I was fortunate to be the Chairperson of the convention and had the opportunity to establish a great rapport with Marvin, one of The leading talents of our time.
My sincerest sympathy to his family and friends--my prayers are with all.

What a marvelous talent and a tragic loss for the entertainment industry. I have enjoyed his music for decades and will continue to appreciate his talents in so many genres of the entertainment. I remember him conducting the orchestra for Barbara Streisand's 2000 Concert at the MGM Las Vegas. May family and friends have comfort in knowing that suffering will be eliminated forever soon and we will have the opportunity to enjoy Marvin performing again for his fans. - Job 33:25.
When I think of Marvin Hamlisch, I think of Gilda Radner ! Rest in peace.

The Strongest Man...(By Michael M. Kelly Sr.)
There never was a man so strong,
That the earth trembled as he walked about,
There never was a man so strong,
That the mountains shook when he would shout,
There never was a man so strong,
That the oceans would overflow if he wept,
But there was a man so strong,
That all that knew him will not forget.
Sincere sympathy, Thank you for beautiful music for so many years
The world has just lost one its best treasures. Thankfully he will live on through his music. He touched so many lives. I am deeply saddened.

My family back in Pittsburgh has been season ticketholders for Marvin's Pops series for almost two decades, and I had the privilege of attending many of those concerts. Besides his music, his humor and his interaction with the audience made each concert something to look forward to. I just found out he was going to be the Pops conductor in Philadelphia as well, and I would have bought tickets as soon as it was announced. He will be dearly missed.

To My Dear Friend Marvin,
When we met at my candy/ice cream store in Westhampton Beach we became instant friends. Your love for my little boy Stefan was heart warming, the baseball tosses in the yard on Griffing, the birthday party for my Dad, you on the piano, Shirley in the kitchen making me my favorite roasted potatoes! Your love, warmth, kindness and brilliance will be missed. You were the Master, and I will never forget you, you will forever be in our hearts...
My heartfelt sympathy on your loss.
Jane Rosenberg Tesoriero
Your melodies remain clear in our minds, hearts and ears. May the memories of Marvin and the resurrection hope sustain you as you live without the music maker.
Great man and great music that will live on for many years.
Here's a short story about the first time I met Mr. Hamlisch. My best male friend and I were invited to, what I believe, was the first, "celebrity" fundraiser in New York City for HIV/AIDS. Among the items being auctioned off to raise money that evening, was an ORIGINAL copy of "A Chorus Line." Mr. Hamlisch attended the benefit, personally, and, the bidding began. (Remember, this was 1982 or so.) Ron and I were too poor to even bid, but, we sat, with our mouths open, when the score went for $200.00. A lot of money to us, of course, but, a mere pittance for what that score is REALLY worth!
Mr. Hamlisch was a very nice, a very gifted and a very giving man.
He will be sorely missed.
Another wonderful man of music will be missed. May he rest in peace.
