he was a wonderful teacher, whom i always will remember.
I knew gene as a classmate in high school. He was a great friend and athlete. Our star center in basketball, who was so excited about every game that he would have stomach problems. We played side by side on the offensive line in football and got to know each other very well. I thought the world of Gene. He will be greatly missed. My sympathy for Pat and your family in your time of grief.
To The Knauss Family,
I remember Mr. Knauss watching us during basketball practice at Jefferson in 1976. He always had a smile on his face and a positive way of giving advice, (Basketball and life lessons). He will surely be missed by all us that he touched, but never forgotten.
May he rest in peace and know that he taught us all how to be better people.
Please accept our deepest sympathy and may you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.
We will say a prayer for Gene and your family. He will fondly be remembered in our memories as one of the best.
All of you are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

My deepest sympathy to the Knauss family. I had him as a teacher at WJH and then as principal when I was at Whitmer. He was the best teacher and made learning fun. I don't think he ever forgot a student's name. He was one of our finest at Washington Local and will always be remembered with great memories.

It was a privilege to know Gene in high school.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pat and Gene's family.
A man to be looked up to "literally"! I had the great pleasure of knowing Mr. Knauss as my friend Brad's father, as a principal and as a church member. What a leader! He wore his many suits with class, distinction, integrity and my favorite part, his humor. You just had to respect him. We could use a few more leaders of his caliber in our world today. Mr. Knauss, I am very sorry for stealing logs from your side yard and having bonfires in the woods behind your house a couple of times in 1979. My heart goes out to you, Brad, and the Knauss family with love.
I will always remember this good man for his steady, even handed way of leadership. One of the good guys. All of my love and prayers to Mrs. Knauss, Brad, Greg and families. A great legacy by a great man!
For the family of Mr. Gene Knauss
To the entire Knauss family, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time!!! What a great loss!!!

Jerry was a great guy and a mentor to his staff. He will be missed by many.
As a teacher in WLS, I had the privelege of beginning my career at Jefferson under the leadership and guidance of Gene Knauss. He was an excellent leader, developing an environment of education where students achieved and educators flourished. We had a community within the building where caring and concern for others was the norm. My heart goes out to Pat and the family in love at this time of loss. Gene was a valued friend and I have a true appreciation for his role in shaping my career. God bless you all. I wish I could be there.
