I recently learned of Jim's death. I first met Jim in 1963, when we were classmates at St. Procopius College. He was in the seminary then; and I got to know him, having lunch or coffee at the college cafeteria. He left the seminary in either our first or second year, and was readmitted as a regulary student (the first time that the college allowed readmission of a former seminarian). Like Jim, I had served in the U.S. Air Force prior to college. And, like Jim, I attended the of University Notre Dame after graduation from St. Procopius; he as a grad student and me as a law student. We even lived together off campus our first year at Notre Dame.
I remember his energy, his interest in a wide range of subjects, his sense of humor, and his great smile. The last time I saw him was at his wedding at Notre Dame. I wish that we had kept in contact. I always enjoyed his company.
My sympathy to his family. And while I am happy that he married and had such a geat family, I can't help thinking that he would have made a great priest. Again, my sympathy to his family.

Joan,

When I joined the TU law faculty in 1971 I did not know many people on campus so I started going over to Health Ed at noon to play pickup basketball with faculty and staff. Jim was one of first guys I met. He was always so nice to me and he was fun to play with and be around. A team player, he played hard but fair, and was a true gentleman. He was a man of prinicple.I was lucky to know him. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Sincerely,
Jim Klein

So sad to hear of Dr. King's passing. He was absolutely my favorite professor at UT and I will always fondly remember our conversations over lunch. His influence was the greatest for me to choose to get my doctorate in sociology. Truly a great, kind hearted, and generous man who will be missed.

To all the King family,

I'm sad to learn of Jim's passing. My sympathies to all the King family. I mostly knew Jim as a member of the Little Shrimps club. And for the past 10 years or so, i got to know him for his highly spirited stories - which he told with great enthusiasm. His passion for so many things was amazing, and his opinions were always backed up with
spirited debate. I loved him for his wit and humor, and gregarious laugh.

I'll miss him dearly,

Bob Moore

Joan, Ian, Erin, Meghan, Eamon, and grandchildren,
Our sincerest sympathies on the the loss of Jim. Although my contact with him was limited throughout the years my memories of him were he was an enthusiastic man with a very contagious smile. He always spoke with energy and excitement. Please know you are all in our thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.
Respectfully,
Geri(Kane), Michael and Michelle Gavan

Dear Mrs. King and Family,
I had the privilege of working on the Wellness Committee at the University of Toledo, representing CWA, with Dr. King circa 2005, and was so impressed with his leadership skills, knowledge and kindness! My condolences on the loss of this great man.
Sincerely,
Christine Keller
