Kent and I were High School classmates. I ment kent as a freshman in 1949, and we remained friends from that time on. We had many wonderful times together. Breakfast at my home at 2 a.m. after Midnight Mass one Christmas to swimming off of his parents boat, Ickey IV at Cataba and especially seeing "South Pacific" in New York. We shall miss him dearly.

We will miss you, your support and enthusiasm for our sport and our team was unparalleled. Kent was a fan of all cross country runners and track athletes in many schools around the area, but we were lucky as he became a Clay fan. He had a knowledge and history of our sport that went way back that you don't find in many fans. Kent was often at the tennis courts in Pearson Park before any of the team was there for practice. We would get on our warmup and then come back for stretching. I believe this was Kent's favorite time at practice, as he would pull up his chair and talk to the kids and coaches, moving among the various groups as we stretched. Hat signing day, which was never planned and just happened, was a special day as new runners got to add their name to Kent's hat. Clay Cross Country and Track & Field are better programs for having the support of fans like Kent & Dolores. You both have a special place in the memories of our athletes and coaches.
