We all have that one special teacher in our lives who can see our gifts and inspire us to live to our full potential. Dr. Gehring was exactly that teacher for me. Rest in peace.

I can echo Denise's comment below. Some of my fondest memories of the Higher Ed program at BGSU involved being at Don and Bettie's home, which they opened up to all of the students and faculty in gracious fashion. The wine flowed, and so did the stories, and as students we always came away feeling a real connection with Don and Bettie. My thoughts are with you Don. Though we have not connected in many years I still think of you and Bettie often.

When Don Gehring was our favorite professor in our doctoral program at the University of Louisville we thoroughly enjoyed every one of his information filled and and positive energy-infused classes. One of the best parts of the class was the traditional end of each semester lasagna dinner at Don and Betties house where both Don and Bettie made us each feel right at home. Don invited all of his students to this traditional dinner each semester and we loved listening to both he and Bettie regale us with stories of their early years of marriage when Don was a Dean of Students. What a warm and inviting homemade dinner they offered us...and thier support and encouragement to each of us made us feel that our aducational success was possible, too. Bettie was a dear soul and we will miss her.
