Hello, For some reason, I was prompted to look up Mr. Pappas, on Google, to see what would come up. Even though I was fairly sure, he had gone to be with the Lord, I still hoped this wouldn't be the case...for selfish reasons, of course. I wanted to speak to him, again. You see, he was my favorite teacher in high school. I wasn't a particulaly smart or special student in any way, but, Mr. Pappas paid me special attention. When I wasn't placed in his World History class, he asked me to transfer to his class. I did, because I was honored that he wanted me and also, because I learned so much from him, when I was in his American History class, the previous year.

After all these years and there are many (51) I still have an undieing love for him. I can only imagine the great loss you feel with his passing.

You boys were young those years that I was your dad's student, He was so, so proud of you, too. I remember your pictures sitting on his desk.

I'm very sorry for your loss and I wanted you to know this and to know, too, what a great impact your father had on my life,

God bless,
Juanda (Shelton) Mostoufi

To the Pappas family...your father truly left a legacy. I am an SHS '72 graduate and had Mr Pappas for government. To this day I speak of how I loved my class with him and what a great teacher he was. May you all be comforted by your memories of him and by all the sincere comments from people he touched for so many years.

Mr Pappas was my teacher in the 70's. I remember him as fair and enjoyable. I also remember John as a member on my debate team. Sorry for your loss.

John & Family,

You are in my thoughts & prayers at this difficult time. Your father was one of the good ones, a teacher who really cared. Many a student will always remember him, including me! May God grant you His peace.

My deepest sympathies to Mr. Pappas's sons and family. He was my government teacher and the very last class I attended at Start in 1980. I remember him letting me leave early since I had finished all requirements for graduation but I didn't want to leave! I loved high school. Reading his obit I realize what an incredible life he lead. He influenced a lot of students at Roy C Start. RIP

Mr Pappas was what everyone felt a teacher should be. He was patient, kind and a wonderful listener. We were excited to hear what he had to say and remembered it as if we'd always know it. He will be missed and has always been an example to others. He made history happen for so many of us. Thank you and may God bless your family. Class of 69
