I met Rick years ago when he was the front door man at Bretz. Many times after going to the bar I would find myself in better company speaking to him at the front door. We had many good times there, chit-chatting, drinking coffee, people watching. I also always remember his dogs Princess and Wiley. Rick, you are a very lovely man......I miss you and love you,

Rest in peace my dear friend.

I have only known Rick for 4 years. I meet him while playing Euchre at Ripcord Bar on Saturdays. He didn't play very often and most of the time he was just visiting the people at the bar. Through conversations with him, I came to enjoy his humor and his insights on many events. I actually would look forward to seeing him. The last few years, his visits became fewer, which made them more precious to those who knew him. He was a class act and always remembered peoples names, even those he only met a few times, and people do pay attention to that. I will miss our Saturday conversations, but I know he is in a better place now. My heartfelt prayers go to his family and all those who came to know and enjoy the person that Rick Johnston was. I can easily say, I only have good memories of Rick and am glad I got the chance to let him enlighten my life. Till we met later, my friend.

Rick was one of the GOOD guys at Bretz when I first came out.
We had Cleveland and Notre Dame football to talk about.

Rick was a great guy. I will miss him.

Many of the times in my life when I have laughed to the point of tears I was in the fine company of Rick Johnston . . . and if his dry wit alone wasn't enough to want to keep him in your close circle, the fact that he was a classic example of what it means to be a beautiful human being and true friend most certainly was.
