On an added note I was there the night the guy broke the window.. I was a waitress at White towers on 10th & Jefferson... One incident will always stay in my mind is when a guy had gotten jumped and came into white tower bleeding for us to call the police but because we had customers I made him stay outside and when I told Det. Poiry about it he said you want to be a police officer and you make a victim stay outside and I said yea because at that point I was a private citizen...he had also made me a beautiful airbrush sweatshirt which I kept for years..and he asked me how come I don't wear it and I told him it was too beautiful to wear...God call home a beautiful soul...Have comfort in knowing he was truly loved and respected

Bob and I were classmates for nine years. I lived in Reno Beach and his family lived close to that area. He was one of the nicest and kindest guys at Clay High School. Who knew of all the talent and dedication this quiet person possessed? I marvel at his many accomplishments and wonderful legacy. May his family keep this legacy and his love in their hearts forever. Many years ago when my wife Candy and I were trial county prosecutors, we came to know and love Bob, and later got to know his family. I prosecuted several of Bob's cases. One murder case required Bob to travel to Mississippi to break an alibi. Bob destroyed the alibi, and, at my request, returned with a mason jar of moonshine, which our office polished off too quickly.
Bob always had stories he gleaned in his work exploring Toledo's dark underbelly. He told one story about catching a safe cracker late at night and getting an on-the-spot confession by telling the criminal that his police radio was a portable metal detector. When the suspect denied touching any of the safe's money, Bob passed his radio over the malefactor's hands while turning the squelch control.
Because Bob treated the lowlife he met on his night shifts with respect, they respected him, and rewarded him with leads and other valuable information.
Sure, Bob was a character, but also a damn fine cop.
Deepest sympathy to Carol and her two boys.
