CHAMBERLIN
James B.
James B. Chamberlin, age 88, passed away December 27, 2013. He was born in Toledo on September 3, 1925, to the late J. Dale Chamberlin and Ella (Huebner) Chamberlin.
Jim spent many of his young summers working at Ott's Boat House in south Toledo, beginning a lifelong love of the Maumee River. After serving in the Coast Guard as a radio operator during World War II, Jim
returned to Toledo to marry Margaret Korhumel and start a family. He began a long career in sales and management at Payne Marine, Brenner Marine and the Viking Ski Shop. In 1976, he opened The Mountain Man Ski Shop in the Parkway Plaza and he ran this business until his retirement. Some may recall the ski reports he gave over the radio for many years. Having combined his love of sales with two of his favorite hobbies, Jim often said, "I sell fun," when asked what he did for a living.
After he retired, Jim spent his time volunteering at the Claver House, woodworking, reading, relaxing at his cottage on Lake Somerset, and helping out his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed all of the time he spent fishing with family and friends on the Georgian Bay in Ontario, an area he introduced to his sons in the 1970s. For the last few years, his passion has been helping boaters at Walbridge Park's launching ramp, which he helped develop, while President of the Toledo Marine Dealers Association.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marg; his children, Chris (Janet), Beth (Mark) Huffman, Tom, Mike (Wendy) and Molly Henry; as well
as nine grandchildren, Neil, Melissa (Cody) Tyler, Mallory Huffman, Kevin, Owen, Pete Huffman, Katie (Mike) Logan, Emily and Abby Henry, as well as two great-grandchildren, Parker Logan and Noah Tyler.
We will remember Gramps for many reasons, but especially for all the fun times we had with him.
We plan to honor Jim's life at the Walbridge Park Shelter House on Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 12 until 4 p.m., and invite family and friends to join us. Memories will be shared at 1 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider

Jim always had a smile and a unique approach to life. He always seemed to rise above life's obstacles. Jim was a huge contributor to boating and the fun of skiing. He once said that skiing was the only sport that a person could be bad at, fall, and come up laughing.
My best regards to his family.

This nice tribute brings back very fond memories. I had Mrs. Chamberlin for third grade at Beverly School. We also loved visiting the ski shops to be greeted by such a kind man. The comment on Miley's brings back more great memories. Sincere condolences on the loss of a very fine gentleman.

My sisters and I have such fond memories of our parents, Duke and Elaine, enjoying life so frequently with Marg and Jim. When I think of Jim, he is always smiling and everyone around him is so often laughing.

I was so saddened when I heard of Jim's passing. He was such a huge part of my life and Deb's life - all those hours spent on Bear Lake behind the boat learning how to waterski ( I hope we were considered part of the family on that note :) )The cabins at Miley's resort where he had breakfast with all the kids around. I haven't had ketchup on eggs in years but I won't ever forget it.
I always have a smile when I remember Jim and my heart goes out to your loss. He was one of the "good guys" just like Bob Hall.
I know as you all travel your journeys now you will have conversations with Jim just as I do with Bob. He will be watching over you.
Peace be with you. Pam (Hall) Shaner

You don't know me, but we are part of the family. Aunt Ella had a part in naming me 80 years ago. She was my grandmothers sister. You have our thoughts in this sad time. Bev Walbolt and husband Bud [email protected]
