listened to jim-ed and dale for so many years on the morning show. loved it, loved them for all their entertainment. so very sad to hear of his passing. he did indeed make you feel he was a good friend waking up to visit with you on all those very early mornings. condolences to his family and close friends.

I'm going to miss all of the noises he made.

There was a fine man named Tom Keith
with a zillion personas beneath.
A kind, gentle wit
with a noise that just fit
any story a wag could unsheath.

He somehow became Jim Ed Poole
by using his voice as a tool
to amaze and delight,
every Saturday night,
any woebegone dreamer and fool.

He worked on the day shift as well.
MPR's Morning Show he could sell
with a script penned by Dale
and Tom's sound beyond fail--
they could conjure up heaven and hell.

Far too soon all the echoes are gone
and the curtains of silence are drawn.
But St. Peter's a ham
and no Scot would God damn,
so in heaven the show will go on.

Thanks, Tom, for all the decades of pure magic! We'll be watching the sky and listening...

One of my "retirement fantasies" was to see if I could apprentice myself to Tom and learn how to make all those great sounds. He was truely a unique and precious resource, and will be greatly missed. My condolences to Tom's family and friends.
