Doris Warner Obituary

Doris Mae Warner HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - Doris Mae Warner, 89, resident of Hilton Head Island., SC, passed away on Nov. 20, 2012, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Charles and Mary Waters in Trenton, N.J., where she also grew up. After graduating with a B.S. in Elementary Education from Trenton State College, she started her own nursery school. She continued teaching and enjoyed a career as an inspiring elementary school teacher in Ewing Township. She was also an accomplished artist who infused creativity into many aspects of her life and those around her by sewing clothes or decorating furniture. She is also known for painting portraits of the late Mary Roebling's grandchildren from Trenton, NJ. Doris was married to the late William S. Warner Sr. for over 61 years and together they raised six children in Pennington, NJ. They retired to Hilton Head Island over 30 years ago. Doris spent many wonderful years working in her garden and enjoying time with her family at the beach. During this time she was also employed part-time as a teacher at the St. Francis-by-the-Sea after school program and as a substitute teacher for the Beaufort County Schools. Doris is survived by her six children, her son, William S. Warner Jr. and wife, Betsy, of Hilton Head Is., SC; grandsons, Ben and the late William S. Warner, III; and granddaughter, Brittany Bayley; her daughter, Linda Warner Constantino and her husband, Duane Constantino of Hilton Head Is.; and granddaughters, Summer and Morgan; her daughter Patricia Warner Bixby and husband, Tom Bixby, of Lady's Island, SC; and grandson, Shawn Kimble and his wife, Nicole; her great grandchildren; Cameron and Courtney Kimble; granddaughter, Katie and husband, David Ashburner and Kayla Bixby and the late Morgan Bixby; her daughter, Dona Warner and husband, Jon Lash, of Yardley, PA, and grandson, Sawyer Lash; her son, Charles Warner, and wife, Nancy, of Hilton Head Is., SC; and grandson, Brady; granddaughters, Hilary and Jaclyn; her son, Michael Warner of Ottsville, PA; and grandchildren, Michael Jr. and Emma. Doris's happiest times were spent with her family, at the beach and preparing meals for large family gatherings. She also adored visits from other family and friends over the years. A brother, Martin Waters, of Sherborn, MA, and sister-in-law, Maggie Volk, of Beverly Hills, CA, survive her. Sister Marion Volk and brothers, Harry Waters, Raymond Waters, Charles Waters, and Norman Waters predecease her. A nephew, Donald Waters, Harry Waters, Robert Volk, and nieces Barbara Waters and Carolyn Jacques also predecease her. Her cousin, Mary Bixby, and nieces and nephews, Jill Bonacci, Judy Protchko, Catherine Waters, Diedree Waters, Mara Prentice, Ellen Pisor, Alice Waters, Laura Maser, Susan Waters, Janice Schmitt, Betty Lou Waters, and Nancy Waters, Richard Volk also survive her. Doris touched many lives and will be remembered as a remarkable woman in all that she gave for her love of family, nature, art and life. Funeral arrangements are private.
