This week I found myself talking to a former Lawrence Baseball teammate about Coach Calderone and we reflected about our times with one of the most genuine, supportive, and great role models that any young man could have. His efforts as a coach do not come close the what he did for us (his players) and those around him as a man. He always had a smile on his face, loved cracking light-hearted jokes on & off the field and no matter if you donned that illustrious Swiss Bakery little league jersey or not, he loved us all the same. He is most certainly someone that influences me to be the best coach that I can be to my players, not merely in terms of win and losses, but to give kids a place that they can come to day in and day out and enjoy doing something they love.

Coach, Thank you for what you did for me and many other young players over the years. You helped make us the men we are today. We honor you by passing along the life lessons you taught to us onto others. God Bless You & Your Family. Respectfully, ALL of Lawrence Little League

I can't believe it has been over a month already and I still haven't found the right words. Bob was my brother in every sense of the word. We laughed together, we played together and we certainly cried together. He was my friend and my rock. I always knew I had a hand if I needed it. I read through all the entries in the guest book today and the praise for this man is overwhelming but not unexpected. He would do anything for anyone and was always looking for a way to make things better. Lawrence Township was a better place for Bob having lived there. Marjie, Chris Kryssa and Allison, you already know how I feel. I am glad I was there to say goodbye to my brother and I am happy that his legacy will live on through you, Liliana and Matteo. My love to you all, always, Maria

My condolences to the Calderone family. Bobby had such a warm smile and, the kindest nature. He was a shining star in the class of 1970.

I was sad to hear about Bobby's sudden passing. I've known Bobby ever since my dad (Alan) worked down at the garage. I will always fondly think of Bobby with a quick story to tell or factoid and his great energy. Will miss him stopping by Dad's while I was home visiting or Dad and I stopping over dropping off veggies and checking out his garden.

I HAVE HAD THE HONOR OF KNOWING BOB SINCE WE WERE 15 YEARS OLD. I WILL MISS HIS SENSE OF HUMOR. WHEN WE BOTH WORKED FOR THE TOWNSHIP I SAW HIM ALMOST DAILY, AND CANT EVER REMEMBER HIM WITHOUT A SMILE ON HIS FACE, OR A JOKE TO TELL. LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP HAS LOST A GOOD CITIZEN, AND WE ALL HAVE LOST A GOOD FRIEND.

I am so sorry to hear about Bobs passing. We grew up together from kindergarten to graduation. We both served together in the National Guard. I will truly miss Bob. My sincere regards to his family for their loss.

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel towards the overwhelming support from everyone who knew my father and the kind of man he was.
Friday night I lost my best friend, my coach, my teacher, my confidant, my biggest fan, the grandfather of my children, the husband to my mother, and the captain of my ship. He taught me how to use a shovel, chop wood, mix concrete, swing a hammer, catch a fish, and grow a garden. He taught me a ferocious work ethic and gave me every tool I needed to become a man and a father to my own children. He gave me endless support and always ended every conversation with saying "I love you". To say that  Bob loved his town and loved Lawrence baseball would be a huge understatement. Today, all of the fish out there in the Atlantic rest a little easier knowing that Bob has forever put down his fishing pole. Catch a big one Pops... May you Rest In Peace

Bob was a good guy, I will miss him, he always asked about how you are doing, we grew up in the Eldridge Park area and most everyone knew each other. My sympathy to his wife and family. Tony Cermele
