Every morning that I wake, I find my body automatically moving towards the stairs to check on you. It takes me several steps before my brain coincides with reality and stops my feet from moving any further.

I miss you, Mom.
June 29, 2017
So, my wife and I have had the good fortune to build a nice home in the countryside of Harmony, PA. We will be marking our 6th year here during this July 4th holiday coming. We have also been fortunate to raise our beautiful seven year old daughter, Sara, in this home since the age of one. As a family, we have been most fortunate to have my mother, Annamay, live with us for the better part of those six years in the bedroom next to Sara's.

There have been many days during this period of time when our home was filled with Sara's calls to her grandmother: "Mae Mae, play with me, Mae Mae. You hide, Mae Mae. Look at what I drew, Mae Mae. Play crazy eights with me, Mae, Mae. Look at me, Mae Mae." Those beautiful sounds filled my heart with amazing joy, no matter what I was doing and no matter where I was in the house. Each day, I waited for those sounds of pure love that filled my heart with happiness. "Play with me, Mae Mae!" And, I would smile. They were the sounds of pure love!

It occurred to me just recently that I have heard those sounds of love many times in my life, at different venues and different places. But, always with the same pure love attached to the words. "Aunt Mae, how are you, Aunt Mae? You are so special, Aunt Mae," my cousins would say. The younger ones had their own calls, "Play with me, Mae Mae," and "I love you, Nana. Play with me, Nana," as my cousin, Taryn, would call her.

And, that pure love coming from every voice in our family was the essence of my mother. Annamay Palmer was PURE LOVE and she brought that to every room that she entered and to everyone that she would meet.

I miss that pure love and I am broken inside.

I miss you mom. mama, Mae Mae...nana. You will be missed by all.
