David and his parents were great friends of my brother George Dunn whom passed on in 2008 and me. George and David were classmates at US. I was only a year ahead of them.

Our mother and stepfather Helen and Bob Hosler were also great friends of David's parents who came to Baltimore to George's wedding to Becky Fisher in 1961, flying in the company plane. Mrs Black was special with her opera devotion. In packing for the Baltimore trip, she had left her special pillow behind which required a return by the pilot to retrieve it.

So there were many great moments and fun times growing up well shared and remembered all these years.

A business event I remember was when White, more aggressively managed under Nev Baumen (spelling?), sought a merger with Cummins Engine which made such good engines that the truck buyers would specify them regardless of the preference of the truck manufacturer. It was a case of very different cultures and business heritages, market control objectives versus longterm superior product emphasis. The then White management sought shorter term rewards. Cummins marched to different drummers. So the merger, which I suspect Black management might not have attempted the merger which did not happen. Fortunately I think.

So David and the Blacks were well loved and warmly remembered.
