Bernie,
I know this must be a hard time of year for you and your family. Somehow, I only learned recently of your mom's passing. I'm so sorry I didn't know at the time. I would have wanted to attend her Mass and extend deepest sympathy. Your mom was such a wonderful lady. I recall her smiling, calm presence even back on grade school occasions (Hot Dog Day?). Once a few of us were working on a school project at your house, discussing where to attend high schoolshe explained all about St. Francis and how the Sisters would have us very polished by the time we graduated. I took her advice to heart. My mother had great affection for her and so enjoyed talking with her. I remember her at my mom's funeral mass how comforted I was by her welcoming smile and wink when I walked in. She seemed so full of kindness and reassurance. You must miss her so much. Please accept my very belated sympathy.

I will always remember my visits to your home on Brightwood Road. And the visit I made shortly after Uncle Bill passed. Tom was not home. You asked if I wanted to come in and we talked a long while. You answered all my awkward questions being a young boy and being aware of your husbands passing. You graciously explained to me the event. I have no doubt that you & Uncle Bill are together again in Heaven. Thank you for being such a great Aunt. Love you Aunt Marie. Jimmy
