Robert Louis "Bob" Yant, 82, of Aleppo Township, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Heritage Valley, Sewickley. Born March 1, 1936, in Sewickley Heights, he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth Morrow Yant. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Dana J. Blume Yant; sons, Barry R. (Karen) Yant and Kenneth (Rosa) Dale; daughters, LouAnn (Shawn) Scott, Carolyn (John Trapp) Pegher and Dawn L. (JR) Cannister; and is also survived by a brother, James Yant; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five siblings. Bob was the former public works director for Sewickley Borough. He was a member of the Cochran Hose Co., Avalon Lodge No. 657, Free and Accepted Masons, Coraopolis Moose, VFW, American Legion, Ambridge Eagles, Coraopolis Elks and the NRA.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2018, in the RICHARD D. COLE FUNERAL HOME INC., 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, PA 15143. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sewickley United Methodist Church, Sewickley.
Bob loved his family time, especially when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were there. When he was able to, he enjoyed gardening and hunting. Those who knew him well would tell you that if you passed him on the street, he would either tell you a joke or sell you a ticket. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Bob's memory to Cochran Hose Co., 601 Thorn St., Sewickley, PA 15143, or to the Sewickley United Methodist Church, 337 Broad St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
