Thank you Al for being in my life for 10years. Such a joy and I will greatly miss you. Love and light always.

I was saddened to read of the loss of this luminary in Pittsburgh's development. I first met Al when he was designing the new upper school for Winchester Thurston. He conceived so many classical buildings that are admired today. It was not unusual for me to run into him at operas or concerts.
My sincere condolences to his family on this loss to the city.

Mike and Dave,

I am saddened today to learn of your father's passing after stumbling upon an obituary in the Post-Gazette.

Though I probably had no more than a handful of conversations with him during those years we were in the band and scouts together, he left a lasting impression as a man of kindness, intelligence and grace.

Please accept my family's condolences in your time of grief. Al's life is one to be celebrated in song, music, thought and deed. Every time I visit those beautiful concert halls he worked on, I will remember him, and both of you, fondly.

To Michael and David; our condolences to you for your loss. Al was a great mentor to me over the almost 40 years I knew him. We first met when I worked with him a couple of summers and Christmases in 1978-81 when I was in Architecture School and he had the office in Mt. Lebanon, and I worked with him again at MCF in the 90's when I lived in Pittsburgh. My wife Sherry McKibben worked for him as well. Life took us here to Idaho where we have been practicing ever since, but I dropped by his office whenever I was back in Pittsburgh, and Al always had time for a chat (even though he was always very busy, of course). We and the profession will miss him enormously.
