Debby and I were friends at Penn State. I was crushed to hear about her passing. She was an exceptional person. My condolences.

I don't know what miracle brought the both of us to the McKeesport campus of Penn State in 1972, for our first year before going to the main campus, from opposite ends of Pennsylvania- but it was life changing. We became fast friends, then roommates all during our college years. I was in the Art department and Debbie in Philosophy, where she became a star scholar. She exercised her gift of what we used to call 'photographic memory' -not only for Plato but for Bob Dylan and.. Frank Zappa. (Summer before last, she recited Zappa at length- she still had it!). Debbie stood up and stood out, her laugh and joy infectious. I think she would've succeeded absolutely anywhere in any position.. at any level. She was so devoted to her family and community, she came back to stay in Westmoreland County. She told me that in remarks or speeches she often mentioned that she was "perfectly ordinary'. She had great empathy not only as a stellar jurist, in her devotion to family- as daughter, wife and mother to lovely daughters, but to her country and democracy. I will miss her friendship and love, but grateful for that miracle in 1972. I will always remember her as. 'absolutely extraordinary'.

Tom and family

I am so sad to hear of Debra's passing. Though it has been many years that have passed I still keep you in mind. I heard the message through Linda Burris and Arlene Miller.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. GOD bless you all and keep you in this time of sorrow.

Sincerely,
John J Edenbo
