Harry Lattanzio was an icon to me and many others in the Westmoreland County music scene of the 1990s - a grandfatherly figure who hadn't forgotten what it was like to be our age. He was always a gracious host to our bands over the years at Illusions, and whether or not any of us realized it at the time, his club was the center of some youth-defining times through those great monthly shows on which I look back fondly, 20 years on. He gave me and a lot of other kids in our scene the opportunity to develop confidence and talent playing our original music onstage, which we wouldn't have necessarily found through other activities. I thank him for his positive impact on my life, and for his contribution to local art and culture.

Both my father and I played gigs at Harry's venue and we were extremely lucky as teenagers of our respective eras to have a place like that to start out in and build a scene. It didn't matter how crazy the music style, Harry was always friendly and one of the nicest club owners I have ever met. Thanks for giving us a place to go and mostly stay out of trouble and maybe occasionally make sure no one got out of line - perhaps with a traffic wand (which didn't occur too often as many people respected Harry). I met and got to know some great people at his place.
