James "Jim" Spallone, 72, of Greensburg, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. He was born March 29, 1946, in Greensburg, a son of the late Frank and Albina (Strapazzan) Spallone. Jim was formerly employed as a metal finisher by Overly Mfg., Greensburg. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved spending time with his family and his dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry. Jim will be greatly missed by his loving family. He is survived by his son, Steve Spallone (Annie DeFabo), of New Alexandria; daughter, Sharon Friedel (Steve), of New Stanton; and their mother, first wife, Peggy (Rathgeb) Spallone; daughter, Nicole Spallone, of Hunker; son, Aaron Spallone, of Hunker; and their mother, second wife, Penny (Phelps) Spallone; brothers, Tom Spallone (Carol), of Greensburg, and Bill Spallone (Liz), of Hannastown; granddaughter, Ashley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Respecting Jim's wishes, there will be no visitation. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Jim's memory be made to Action for Animals, PO Box 814, Latrobe, PA 15650, or Westmoreland County Humane Society, Route 119 N., PO Box 1552, Greensburg, PA 15601.
