Marcella Marie Perry, 88, of Norvelt, passed away peacefully with family by her side Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. She was born Aug. 19, 1929, the daughter of the late John and Mary Crouse Guzy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 2000; son-in-law, John Koloshinsky; and brother, Joseph Guzy. She is survived by her siblings, John Guzzy, of New Stanton, Josephine Manupelli, of Monroeville, Frances Arlotta, of Harrison City, Stanley Guzy, of Bellview, Mich., William Guzy, of Mt. Pleasant. She will be sadly missed by her daughter and caregiver, Susan Koloshinsky; son, Raymond and his wife, Vineta; grandchildren, Alyssa Koloshinsky, Rebecca Perry, Samantha Pechart, Steven Perry; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Kaya Soike. Marcella was a graduate of East Huntington High School and was valedictorian of her class. After completing high school she relocated to Pittsburgh and was a "nanny" and caregiver for an attorney and his children. She married Raymond Perry in 1960 and had two children. Marcella was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. Her joys in life were shopping, reading the daily paper and enjoying time with her family. Her greatest passion in life was her faith in God. She had great devotion to the Blessed Mother, prayed the Rosary and watched the Mass daily on channel ETWN. She was a member of St. Florian Catholic Church, United.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. Vigil prayers will be 7:45 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Transfer prayers will be 9:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home followed by her funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Florian Catholic Church, United with the Rev. John A. Sedlak as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Westmoreland Hospital staff and Excela Hospice for their compassionate care.
