William J. "Bill" Jenko, 93, a lifelong resident of Export, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, in Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. He was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Export, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Jeriniovich) Jenko. Bill was a retired quality control inspector for Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and the former Westinghouse Electric Co., East Pittsburgh. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the Export American Legion Post 858. Bill was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Export, where he attended Mass his entire life and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Manordale Valley Council 4226. He was passionate about his deep faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and fellow parishioners. Bill will be remembered as a good, kind, compassionate and dedicated family man who enjoyed rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Josephine (Bill) Kratofil, Helen (Joe) Valencic, Tillie (John) Georgvich, Walter (Marguerite) Jenko and Ralph (Marge) Jenko. Surviving are his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Jurkiewicz) Jenko; and his loving daughter, Joy JenkoMerusi and her husband, Ken Merusi, of Ligonier; also survived by nieces and nephews.
Friends welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the WOLFE-VON GEIS FUNERAL HOME INC., 5701 Lincoln Ave., Export, 724-327-1400. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary Church. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Export, with military honors accorded by the Greensburg VFW Post 33 Honor Guard.

So sorry for your loss. I remember getting to work with him at the first StandDown on our kitchen patrol. He was every bit the enthusiastic veteran this picture shows in how hard he worked that day. I know you will miss him and cherish your memories, Joy, and I am sure part of him comes shining out in you from time to time.

Al and I were so sorry to read that your father passed on. Even though we met only the one time, his good outlook and cheerful enjoyment was obvious. He will be missed by all. We liked him.
