Frank Albert Kopas, 86, of Harrison City, formerly of Brockway, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017. He was born July 27, 1930, in Uniontown, a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Terify) Kopas. He was a member of St. Barbara's Catholic Church in Harrison City, The Knights of Columbus and was a former member of the VFW. He was an Army veteran and went on to work as a soil scientist for the U.S. Government for more than 25 years before retiring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Lippincott; sister, Anna; and brothers, Vince, Andrew and John. He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Churey) Kopas; children, Frank Andrew Kopas, of Harrison City, and Beth Ann (Kirk) Patterson, of Irwin; son-in-law, Rich Lippincott, of Raleigh, N.C.; grandchildren, Olivia Lippincott, Ryan Patterson, Niki Patterson, Alex Lippincott and Rachel Patterson; sister, Catherine Sampey, of Fairchance; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Everyone is invited at 10 a.m. Saturday to the mausoleum chapel at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in North Versailles for a committal service. Arrangements are handled by the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME INC., 521 Main St., Irwin, 724-863-1200.

I am truly sorry. Mr. Kopas was a wonderful man. I have only fond memories of him and your family. I missed you all when you moved away from Pottsville,but thought about you all often. My prayers are with you all.
