Adela I. "Della" (Kocon) Derringer, 88, of East Deer Township, passed away Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice of Concordia, Cabot. She was born May 24, 1929, in West Natrona, daughter of the late Ludwig and Josephine (Pacella) Kocon. Della has lived the past 45 years in East Deer Township, and prior to that, West Natrona. She was a homemaker and member of Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Natrona Heights. Della enjoyed ceramics, traveling to Florida, cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Frederick R. "Fred" (Christine D.) Derringer, of Harwick, and Deborah (Eric) Joswig, of Umatilla, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Derringer, of Butler; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers, Joseph (Olga) Kocon, of Saxonburg, and Edward Kocon, of Natrona Heights. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick R. "Whitey" Derringer, in 2015; sons, Gary, in 1963 and Dennis Derringer, in 2016; brothers, John, Stanley and Frank Kocon; and sisters, Genevieve Basar and Mary Skowronski.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME INC., 347 E. Tenth Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526. Christian funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Natrona Heights. Burial will be in Mt. Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights.
