I was one of the lucky ones - I had Professor Nock for Property. It didn't take long to realize that he loved the law, teaching and his students. He also took great delight in telling puns. Some of his jokes were so bad you would cringe but you would end up chuckling because he was so obviously tickled by his wit. When I needed mentoring, Professor Nock was there for me. Professor Nock was a big guy with a huge heart and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to know him.

Thanks for your comments! The obituary I promised to write, but didn't write, started off, "gone bowling. I told George that if he didn't write his own obituary, I would write 'gone bowling'" or worse. But when the time actually came, and I sat there in his hospital room writing it, I couldn't do it.

I have received many, many nice emails and cards, and I appreciate them all - thanks so much! But I have a large, empty hole in my heart right now.

George, such a mensch, I'll miss you. When you check into law professor heaven, you can start punning around with my brother Jim.

They say that when a person dies, a book burns. When George Nock died, an entire library burned.

What an incredible loss for all of us who remain. We'll miss you George.
