Judith Marie Davis (Zatterberg) Judith Davis came into this world on 5-11-1949 at Tacoma General Hospital, and left it at the same place on 2-3-2011 under the competent and compassionate care of the staff in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Judi's bright, gentle, and caring spirit has touched many throughout her life. She loved her early family times, her cousins, aunts, and uncles. She fondly remembered her friends at Mary Lyon, Stewart, and then Lincoln High School. Honored as a Daffodil Princess, not rising to be 'Queen', but aptly chosen as 'Miss Congeniality.' She attended Pacific Lutheran University where of course she was chosen as 'Lucia Bride.' She earned her degree in education, which led to a career teaching at Delong Elementary School in Tacoma. She positively touched the lives of her many young students, just as her early mentors influenced her. Her calling was cut a little short to retire and meet the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis. Though not formally teaching anymore, she continued to unwittingly demonstrate the importance of what ultimately makes life special. She loved her little furry, four legged companions, felt lucky to be among her caring neighbors, knew the importance of longtime friends like Ron and Pat, and also the development of new friends like Teresa. She was warmed by the unconditional love of her brother Glen and his wife Kym, along with some very good friends who realized her special spirit. Judy will now be joining her parents Stan and Jennie Zatterberg and sister Kristine York. She leaves behind her brother Glen (Kym) Zatterberg, and Tripper. Judi supported many charities, but felt a closeness to the Tacoma-Pierce County Humane Society and the Multi-Care 'Light up a Life' hospice program. We will meet to light up Judi's life in the Roof Garden Room at the Landmark Convention Center, 47 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma, WA, at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 12th, 2011.

Judy was my favorite teacher. She was such a warm, caring and fun person. I was in her 6th grade class in 1976-1977. I have many wonderful memories of her. I know the names of the planets thanks to the song Mrs. Davis taught us and have taught it to my children as well. :) I remember her telling me we were doing our Christmas play because we will not remember doing page 57 in math, but we will always have fond memories of putting on our play. She also taught me "No happy time that passes is ever really gone, if it leaves a special memory for looking back upon." I am thankful for my special memories in Mrs. Davis's class.
My sincere sympathy to her family and friends.

Mrs. Davis was my 6th grade teacher at DeLong in 1978-79. My youngest son is in 6th grade now, and it has never been more clear to me how influential a wonderful teacher is for a young person; I *wish* he had a "Mrs. Davis" in his life. I still remember how pretty she was - I wished I could be just like her. One favorite memory is earning the privilege of going to Farrell's for ice cream with Mrs. Davis as a reward for spelling tests - my only disappointment was that my friend tied me for 1st place so I had to share the attention of my favorite teacher! What a fantastic teacher and wonderful role model.

Mrs.Davis was my 6th grade teacher at DeLong. She cared about each and every student! I was always a tom-boy growing up and I remember her trying so hard to turn me into a girly girl! "Krista, we've got to do something about your bangs!" What a wonderful lady and role model!

Mrs. Davis was my 6th grade teacher at DeLong. I don't think teachers realize what a lasting impact they make on their students. She was a lovely, positive person, and I will always remember her fondly.

My brother and myself had Ms. Davis when we went to Delong. She so caring, loving, passionate, and a fantastic teacher. I will always remember her telling me not to let my learning disability get in the way, I could do anything. I often visit her after leaving Delong and we crossed paths again when her mother was Tacoma Lutheran Home. Thanks Ms Davis for being there when i needed you in my education. You will be missed by many of your students.

Judy's smile radiated warmth and kindness and her eyes always twinkled. We met in Mrs. Bond's 2nd grade class at Mary Lyon and continued our friendship through Stewart, Lincoln and since. Her Christmas cards happily reflected her genuine caring spirit and warmth of friendhip. She signed this year's card

I attended Mary Lyon, Stewart and Lincoln High School with Judy. I never knew her to 'not' have that radiant smile on her face. She was one of those special people who was beautiful both inside and out. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Ruth ( Jowett ) Whitfeldt

I went to school with Judi at Stewart and Lincoln. We shared a biology class at Lincoln and that's really where our friendship began. I lost touch with her over the years but remember her fondly. She was a wonderful young girl when I knew her and I'm sure she grew to be a wonderful woman as well. My prayers are with her family and may God greet her with open arms.
