The Education Family has truly lost another great Education Leader. I thank God for the opportunity to meet, know and work with Leon for many years. Rest in Peace Brother, we all will miss you and your contributions.

My heart and thoughts go out to Mr. Horne's family and friends. I have very fond memories of being in Mr. Horne's 5th grade class at Manitou Elementary School in 1974-75. I am grateful for his influence in my life!

Leon was a strong tireless advocate for teachers and students. We thank him for his dedication and we will all miss him.

I am so glad I knew Leon and had the opportunity to work with him. What a tenacious, loyal, fun, and bold leader he was! When I saw him in the NEA building, I couldn't suppress the ear-to-ear smile that immediately covered my face. What a lovely man. Public schools, their students, and their employees have lost an über advocate and a fine friend.
