I am saddened to learn of the passing of a great friend and a strong NEA colleague, Leon Horne. I worked with him on many educational policy issues during the past 20 years. First and foremost, he was concerned about student success. He also worked hard to ensure that educators would be the leading advocates for excellence and for equity. He was a living model of inclusivity and respect for all people. Leon was one of the tallest trees in the forest of human and civil rights. He will be missed and remembered.
