Monette (Peggy) Witter Peggy was born to Francis and Margaret Mattingly in Tacoma on July 30th, 1908 and died at age 104 on January 20th, 2013. She had three brothers, Frank, Bob and Bill and two sisters, Katharine and Jean. Peggy graduated from Stadium High School in 1928 and married her high school sweetheart, Robert Witter at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in 1931. Her three children, Robert and his wife Janet, Katharine Gaustad and her husband Ken and JoAnne Utne and her husband Ken survive her. She has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. General Mills transferred Robert to the Bay Area of California in 1956. They lived in Los Altos and while there joined with others to establish St. Luke's Parish in the Los Altos Hills. The pleasures of their life were family, gardening, camping, golf and extensive travel. Peggy was a life long member of the DAR and an active member of the Los Altos Garden Club. Ten years after Robert's death Peggy moved back to Tacoma to be closer to her family and has lived at Franke Tobey Jones since 2002. Peggy will be inurned next to Robert at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos, California. A memorial service honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16th at St. Matthew Episcopal Church, Browns Point, Tacoma with a reception following.
