Dear Dale, John Johnson and I are extremely saddened by the loss of our beloved Janette and your mother. We know she is in the arms of God, as the words of "Anchored In Love" asures us. Our prayer is that God will give strenght to you and Rita during these terrible times. We hope to be able to pay our respects in person. Karl Thompson

My deepest sympathy goes to Jeanette's family. She was a sweet and down-to-home lady and will be missed by all who knew her.

Janette Carter will not be forgotten. As a child in Rogersville, Tennessee, I remember my mother and aunts singing the songs of the Carter Family. There were long discussions of their musical talents. On summer evenings, my granny's old Victrola would be cranked and we would hear the stories told in melodic style. I remember crying each time I heard about the Rye Cove tornado. But every week I would request it again.
That is what the Carter Family and Janette gave us; memories of slower times, of family. Memories that will live on through her work with the Fold.
May God comfort you through this difficult time.
Sincerely,

I was a country music disc jockey for over forty years. My family roots in the Kingsport-East Tennessee area go back over 200 years. I was raised loving the wonderful, pure music of the region.I feel a great sense of loss withe passing of Ms. Carter. Her spirit and the wonderful musical gifts of the Carter Family will live forever. God rest her soul. Mike Morelock

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. She was a grand lady, and it was always an honor to play for her at the Fold.

I'll keep all of you in my prayers.

Attn: Rita - Broken Hearted. May you find solace in knowing you are not alone. When you are missing your Mother, please remember - the entire country is Missing her with you! My prayer now is for you that God will give you the strength to carry on the Carter family tradition and share your rich family history with the thousands of fans that still "Love the Carter Family". My entire family was blessed to have been there last fall for our 55th anniversary party and pictures with Janette. What a Great and gracious Lady who took time and gave of herself for others and always with a Smile. For us, this is like losing a Family Member and we share the pain with you. Find the strength from the Love and Memories of her to CARRY ON. Thinking of you from the far Northwest. Love, Betty Dodrill and family.

Many thanks to Janette Carter for her lifetime labor of love and devotion to keeping the beautiful traditional music of this area alive. I was asked once by a New York reporter who was visiting the Carter Fold, "Why does this place work"? I responded, "Everything here is authentic, the real thing". Janette Carter will be remembered forever for keeping her promise to her beloved Father to keep the old time music alive. We will all miss her! She was like family to all of us in the region.

Jeanette Carter was a great lady in the best tradition of Appalachina women. She had a dream and she made it come true. Through her efforts her daddy's music lives on and thousands have been uplifted and entertained by it. Jeanette was a lovely person. She is at rest on the sunny side with the Lord.
