My condolences to my father's wonderful and beautiful wife Ingrid. Best thing that ever happened to me was my Dad raising me with his second wife Anne's children. Mike and Tim as brothers and Jill as my sister. Richard was born to Don and Anne a few years later. We lived on a horse property in Tucson Arizona. Dad raised ducks, geese, chickens, peacocks, etc. Many hatched from eggs. Bands of partridges and quail still roaming that neighborhood have roots in his incubators.
We had great family vacations including scuba diving excursions in Mexico and a 5 day houseboat trip on Lake Powell. Dad was a hunter and taught us gun safety. We would hunt rocks, deer and javelina in Southern Arizona and dove "hunt" at several different spots near Tucson. We were also members of Catalina Terrace and the Racquet Club Ranch swim and tennis clubs.
Anne and Don taught me the importance of academics. My wife and I graduated with engineering degrees. Dad's granddaughter attended the same medical school as my father. Our youngest son, David, has a masters degree in engineering. His second grandchild, deceased, earned his engineering degree, magna cum laude. All three earned their undergraduate degrees from Arizona State University.
The kids thought Dad and Ingrid were "cool" grandparents. Our lives are less interesting without him in it.
