Everett W. D.O. "Always an Eagle Scout" GIBSON

GIBSON, Everett W., D.O. "Always an Eagle Scout" 11/3/1930 - 8/7/2016 Everett was born in Unionville, MO. He attended Truman University and the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He began a family practice in Tucson in 1956 and delivered hundreds of babies, made house calls, and cared for many. He later became a full time Emergency Room Physician. During his tenure at Tucson General Hospital, he served as President of Staff, Emergency Room Director, Director of Medical Education and President of the State Osteopathic Association. For many years he served as a mentor and clinical instructor, training interns and residents. He retired from Kino Hospital in 1998. "Doc" Gibson was well admired and respected by the people he worked with. Active in the community, he served on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, and for over 30 years on the Catalina Council, Boy Scouts of America Executive Board. In addition to his Eagle Scout award, Everett received numerous awards as an adult for his Boy Scout and community service including the BSA Silver Beaver Award. He served youth directly as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, and many other volunteer positions. In his retirement years, Everett enjoyed traveling, cooking, watching UofA basketball, playing with his pet cockatoo, Lucy, and learning the art of bonsai. He was also well loved by the gourd art community through his wife's interests. Everett is survived and loved by his wife of 40 years, Bonnie Gibson; his sons, Greg, Scott, Bart and Paul Gibson; his daughter, Erin Creekmur (Rex) and four grandchildren. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a future date for family and close friends.
