Condolences to the family and may he rest in peace. My grandson is in 3rd grade and has been enrolled at Oyama Elementary since Kindergarten.

My dear
And now, you rest in peace. The community you so loved speak of you so kindly, with gratitude for your commitment to make this world a better place. Our personal memories are intertwined with special friends, dancing to the music of the legendary Cass Preston, assembling the band of Louie Leon for their reunion at our wedding, attending innumerable events that raised money for honorable causes,
and so much more, too much to mention.
I'll write more later but for now my dear, rest in deserved peace knowing you made a difference, you are loved
and your time on earth was a treasured gift.
~~Ann

Rest In Paradise Grandpa. You'll be sorely missed. Gone but never forgotten.

Hank made a big difference in the community for all of us. I met him in the 70s thru my parents and even though he had been retired, it was so great to see him around town.
He had so much energy and always wanted to help out any way possible.
We won't be seeing him around town anymore but, there will be (and are) so many memories of Hank whereever we go. You will be never forgotten.

May Hank rest in peace, and with much gratitude for his civil rights stands and bilingual educational efforts. I posted my tribute on Tucsoncitizen.com: http://tucsoncitizen.com/community/2013/03/25/in-memory-of-dr-henry-hank-oyama/

Dear Oyama Family, I offer my deepest condolences to you for the loss of this wonderful human being. Señor Oyama was one of my early Spanish teachers at Pueblo High School. Señor Oyama and Señor Guerrero worked hard with me to help me win a scholarship to the University of Arizona and graduation from the UofA changed my life forever. That dynamic duo did that for so many other students as well. It ultimatelly had a domino effect and changed many more lives after me and the other students as well. I will be forever grateful to the work that Señor Oyama and Señor Guerrero committed to so many of us at Pueblo High School to make our futures so much better. Señor Oyama will be in my prayers until I die. God Bless Señor Oyama and keep him forever in his care.
With Love and Sympathy,
Cecilia Vindiola

Hank was the first to greet me when I joined the Pueblo faculty in 1960. He always impressed me with his calm, pleasant, professional demeanor. We all respected and loved him. A truly remarkable human being. R I P, Hank.

Mr. Oyama touched many with his kindness and understanding. Those of us from older Tucsonian families will always remember the hardships the Oyama family went through and the pride when they returned to our "Old Pueblo" to help enrich the many who have had the fortune to have Hank smile and greet you warmly. The passing of a True Tucsonian Leader.
