Jeffrey Adelstone Obituary

Jeffrey A. Adelstone 2/15/1947 - 10/23/2013 On Wednesday, October 23rd, Jeff passed away peacefully at the age of 66. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was born in Los Angeles, but was raised in Tucson. He attended Tucson High School where he met the love of his life, Ruth. He graduated from high school in 1965. He then attended the University of Arizona where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in Business. Jeff played the saxophone in the UofA Pride of Arizona marching band and he had the privilege of performing with the band in the first Super Bowl halftime show. Jeff's passion for the Arizona Wildcats was well known. Jeff started his business, AFS Tax and Planning Group from his garage in 1975. His business grew into a highly successful and well respected establishment in Tucson. Jeff's alphabet soup of designations included an E.A., C.F.P., A.B.A., A.T.A., A.T.P., E.C.S., and C.S.A. One significant honor in his life was his opportunity to meet George W. Bush in the Oval Office. His expertise in tax, accounting, and financial planning impacted many in the community. Jeff lived his professional and personal life with the utmost honesty and integrity. Everyone who encountered Jeff experienced his generosity. Jeff enjoyed many travels and was blessed to spend summers with Ruth and his family in his favorite place, Hawaii. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, selflessness, and kindness. Above everything, Jeff loved his family. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Ruth; brother, Jay (Diane); sister, Judy (Fred), daughters, Kim (John), Stacey (Terence), Toni and grandchildren, Kendall, Trennon, Cole, Travis, Emma, Drew and Samantha, plus many nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. Memories and Condolences
for Jeffrey Adelstone

Not sure what to say?

I think of Jeff and Ruth many times as I drive by where they used to work.. I stop in occasionally just to say hello, it was such a pleasure to work for them a few years. I was hoping to continue but this 'old' body said 'enough squatting'..just stopping in to say 'thanks for the memories' and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Nola Dool.

I can NOT believe it has been 7 years already that Jeff went to his heavenly home.
He was a very loving family man, but also very attentive to we who were his colleagues. I worked with him in NSA for many many years.

I am so sad to learn of Jeff's passing. My husband and I counted on Jeff for 30+years for our financial services and when my husband died 3 years ago, I knew I could trust Jeff to help & guide me. He was an honorable man of integrity and wit. He will be missed. I send my thoughts and prayers to his wife and daughters.

Ruth and family,

We are very saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. We considered him to be a good friend to our family; always there to help with financial advice. He first became an acquaintance in 1975 through the accounting class he taught at PCC. Since then we have been following him through his various offices. His help in both professional and retirement affairs is greatly appreciated.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family always.

So sorry to hear of your loss. He touched so many people during his life... I remember Jeffrey from college as I too played with the U of A Pride of Arizona Marching Band that marched in the first Superbowl. I have run into a few other band members here in town but did not know Jeffrey was here also. It is my loss that I missed knowing him as a professional and also missed the chance of reminiscing with him as a friend...
My sincere sympathy to the whole family.

Forty-five years ago, Jeff was recommended to me by a friend, knowing I needed help with my accounting. Jeff showed up at my business in his VW and made me feel at ease. Ten years later, I had the privilege of working for him during tax season. He helped me with my IRA, which I still have when I converted it to a Roth. And just last year, I had my non-profit business taxes done at AFS. I highly respected Jeff and his wisdom. I am saddened by his passing. May his family find solace in knowing that he touched so many lives.

Jeff was one of the smartest, funniest and most generous man I have ever known. I enjoyed working for him and along side him for so many years respecting him in so many areas. His professional life was truly amazing to all that were lucky enough to know his accomplishments. His family and friends will have memories to share about his wit, giving nature and smarts. Their family game times will never be the same. I will miss my friend everytime I walk into AFS or drive up to his house. He was an remarkable man with a loving family to be proud of.

To Jeff's family: Jeff was a GREAT FRIEND to me in NSA. He insisted I be on the NSA Federal Taxation Committee, and because of his insistence and help I served on that committee for many years and had the privilege of chairing it for 2 years, with prior serving as Vice Chair for 3 years.
Jeff was a terrific friend to me and to all who knew him at NSA.

To Jeff's Family,
I first met Jeff at your home where I went to have him do my taxes. That was in 1974. Jeff did my taxes every year until 2011, because after several years of driving from Flagstaff, it became too much. Jeff always made me feel at ease even though I felt sick when I took my taxes in. He was a great man. Enjoy heaven, Jeff

Those who had the privilege of knowing Jeff will miss this good and decent man, but his family will miss him most of all. Although Jeff excelled as a tax accountant, and simply put, was the very best in his field, he impressed me the most by his great pride for his daughters Kim, Stacey, and Toni. Jeff was truly a proud Papa, and I hope his girls realize this. Jeff Adelstone made a positive difference as a husband, father and businessman. I am fortunate to have known Jeff and his family for over thirty years, and I will miss him.
He's a good soul.
Please accept my deepest condolences, and may you find healing for your loss of a truly decent man. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Peace...
