CRUMP, The Reverend Lois Marlene Blankenship passed away from cancer on December 16, 2013 at age 74 in Tucson, AZ. Born and raised in Great Bend, KS, Lois earned her Bachelor's degree in Religious Education from Phillips University in 1960, a Master's degree in Religious Education from Christian Theological Seminary in 1965, and a Master's degree in Engineering Management from George Washington University in 1996. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master's degree in Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary in 2002. Much of her career gravitated toward helping others and Christian education with a foray into Information Technology which she found challenging and very rewarding. Lois was a Director of Religious Education and Youth Minister, a Juvenile Court Probation Officer, a Program Director for the YWCA, a Computer Specialist at Peace Corps headquarters, and an IT manager for the State Department and Army Program Office. Lois retired from the Federal Government after which she became the Associate Pastor for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Alexandria, VA from 2002 to 2009. She retired from the ministry to Tucson, AZ where she still was very active in the church, Christian education, and the Women's League of Voters. She is survived by her son, Nathan; his wife, Laura, and their children, Kirsten, Caitlin, and Alexander in Fairfax, VA; daughter, Adrienne; her husband, Gary, and children, Hannah, Kelly, and Phineas in Tucson, AZ; and daughter, Laura and her husband, Timothy in Arlington, VA. Services will be held at Saguaro Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 8302 East Broadway Blvd. Tucson, AZ on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 2723 King St., Alexandria, VA on Saturday, January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Lois was a strong, intelligent, and caring individual who strived to make the world a better place for everyone she encountered. I remember Lois in Las Vagus where Laura and Tim were married. I met her the day after their wedding for lunch enjoying the meal, the joy of the event, and her zest for life. The warmth of her happiness was so apparient in her smile and laughter. I treasure this time moment in time about her.
