I'm so glad that David and I were able to attend. I'm sorry for your loss, but I was happy to see and hear such wonderful memories.

I will forever be grateful for "Mr. Keefe's" mentorship during my teenage years while I was active in my friendship with his son, Rick.

He showed me the following things:
-be tough, and serious about your passions and goals
-be kind, and open your home to others in need of resources and guidance
-substance over form
-pay attention to the details

I share the following memories that stand out:
-he taught me what a philatelic brokerage was, and even let me auctioneer at a stamp auction
-we watched a no-hitter together in person...Dodger Jerry Reuss over the Giants at Candlestick Park (my first NL game ever)
-he showed me how to love children...it was so obvious how deeply he cared about Rick, and all of the "United Nations" of children he invited under his roof
-he gave me space and encouragement when I went back and forth with my interest in the Air Force Academy...even when I ultimately declined my nomination

I will not forget the smell of rum-flavored Borkum Riff tobacco.

God Bless you and your family, Mr. Keefe.

Pierre and I are very sad to learn about the passing of Dick. We know what a special person Dick was and what he contributed to so many.

Our family has many fond memories of this kind and giving man. He made endless contributions to children everywhere and many to my children. We remember special parties, special visits and a huge dining room table that welcomed children from far and from near as well as a volume of friends.

Dick and Ann had big, big hearts when it came to helping others, especially children. Our condolences go to all those children especially to Rick and Colleen with the loss of their dear father.

May God grant all of you peace in your heart and fond memories of this man who had a giant heart.

From friends with fond memories. God be with all of you.

My sister Kim LaPorte-Harlow expressed my feelings and thoughts so well in her message.

My memories of "Mr. Keefe" are strong in my heart and mind. He was such a large part of my youth.

My deepest symathies go to his family and friends. May you find comfort in knowing he was loved by so many and will now be at peace in God's embrace.

God Bless,
Lloydyne

I am so sad to learn about the passing of the quiet, gentle man I always called "Mr. Keefe".

As a friend of his children's, I spent many hours in the Keefe home and always enjoyed the energetic, bustling activity there surrounded by adopted or visiting children from all corners of the world - and Mr. Keefe always seemed so calm through it all. He impacted the lives of so many young people - his own children, whether his by birth or adoption, as well as their friends - like me - and many others. I'll never forget the HUGE Christmas tree that decorated the living room in their home each year! He was a man of BIG love!

I'll also never forget the kind letter he wrote for me in support of my application for a military wives' scholarship for college - which I ended up receiving.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to Mrs. Keefe and all of their children, but especially to Rick and Colleen (who I knew best). I am praying for all of you - may God and your loved ones bring you comfort and hope during this time that may seem hopeless.

Peace be with you,

Kim
