Ardis was my only "parent" since my mother died in 1985. From her, I learned to be an adventurer, and I am still living her adventures.

I will miss her more than she knows.
December 7, 2013
Aunt Ardis was a fantastic mentor for a wild child like me. She helped to instill in me a love of sailing (Campbell's Y Boat?), and canoeing. I gained my great appreciation of the natural world under her tutelage on the lakes and in the great woods of the north country. She helped a directionless young man find direction. She happily gave advice, great food and made me a part of the family. I'll never forget waking up many mornings, kids strewn in sleeping bags everywhere, and Ardis, quietly sitting in front of the window, reading with her cup of coffee, awaiting another day. I miss you Ardis. We'll see you on the next portage.
