Dan was a mentor and a friend. We spent hours together struggling with the issues of the community of faith. His wisdom and patience are unmatched. I miss him already. Heaven will be welcome this good and faithful servant.
I know Dan from the warmth of his smile and hugs, of which I was blessed to receive many in the years we knew each other at Lyndale UCC. He reminded me of my own grandfather, who also loved to sing and struggled through Parkinson's disease. His words were comforting as well, yet it was years before I learned that it was partly (muchly) through his influential words and actions that hearts changed and the UCC opened its doors early for the LGBT community, making it possible for me to marry April at Lyndale UCC 19 years ago.
Anita, you have been that strong support throughout. Thank you for all your care - to Dan and to us.
