Playing the piano the last two days, I've had strong memories of Dave. I was thinking I should brush up the Lizst Hungarian Rhapsody, or Rachmaninoff's Etude (Bells of Moscow) to raise his spirits while he battled cancer. My thoughts were so strong, I stopped practicing both times, called Kovacs Piano Company, and had to leave a message. Today, when Pat didn't answer, I worried something had happened, found these remembrances, and called again. This time she answered, and we shared tears. Thank you Pat (and Dave) for your enthusiastic appreciation for my playing the piano. I beam remembering all those great "Beer30s", starting in the early 1970s when I lived in the same neighborhood (and the shop was in the brick building west of the house). Each visit, I got to test Dave's keyboard handiwork, admire Pat's refinishing work, and gave those new hammers a good workout, with your unconditional encouragement. I'm sad knowing the Beer30s with Dave in attendance are past, but I'll be smiling while I play, thinking of Dave and our mutual love of the piano and its music. I know he's hearing the melodies with me.
I didn't know Dave well. We frequented the Regions pool on occasion. He shared recipes with us and helped me be brave enough to park in the valet slots. We will miss his humor and gentle spirit. God bless you.
