On the eve of your service, I have finally had a few moments to reflect on the life you lived and shared with us.
I could never understand why you were so dang hard to buy gifts for - I could never find that one little thing that would make you smile without you saying, "Oh, that's too much." or "You shouldn't have done that."
During the last hours of your life, I finally found the answer; your family and friends were the only gifts you ever wanted or needed. Your smile when you saw a familiar face was the reassurance I needed to know you wanted for naught and were at peace with the inevitable. You taught me there is nothing more valuable than time spent with the ones you care most deeply for. Thank you for one final gift.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back...
