I ran across Mr. Hauser's obit today. So sad to hear of his passing. He was one of my favorite teachers in junior high school at Sunrise Park. My girlfriend and I would walk part way home with him some days after school. He never seemed to mind and always had time for us. He was always making choir so fun and was a wonderful teacher. Very fond memories! He was a great man!
My career as a high school teacher was influenced by my wonderful, caring, 8th grade teacher, Louis Hauser at Sunrise JHS in the mid 1960s. Lots of fun, music in class! You are well remembered and loved, my Teacher.

I am so sorry. I heard about Lou's passing a week late. I looked up to Lou as a mentor. He helped me grow from a green kid to being a teacher of young people.
Our most sincere sympathies to you and your family. You were blessed with a man in your lives who will leave many precious memories.
I am very fortunate to have had Louis Hauser for my music and choir teacher at Sunrise Junior High in the 70's.
He also taught me to play guitar, recorder and bass guitar. But, he was so much more than that. He was my mentor. The many days he would tolerate me, after school in his class room. Offer guidance and really care about what was going on in my life. I have had a real pleasure, knowing the Hauser family. And, with that said, I was so very glad to tell Louis just a couple of weeks ago, what an impact on my life he made. I will treasure my memories, my love for music, and the gifts he bestowed on me. I always look forward to the Christmas card the Hauser's sent out. It was always one of his watercolors (and many times the image was from their trips abroad). Thank you Louis. Happy travels.
I had him as choir teacher at Sunrise Jr. High in the late 70's. He was such a great teacher. I also remember the singalongs he led, with folk music type songs. That was one of my favorite things. RIP Mr. Hauser, and thanks for the memories!
My deepest sympathies on your loss. Mr. Hauser was my favorite teacher of all time. He taught me guitar, a little piano, choir and mostly, he taught me a lifelong love of music that has been passed down to the next generation. I still remember the harmony on all those choir songs some 40 years later. I also cherish the memories of the talks we had after school. He was a great listener at a time when many adults didn't listen to us. Thanks for making junior high a little more bearable Mr. H! I will listen for you in the heavenly chorus and smile at the memories.
I had "Mr. Hauser" for choir and guitar back in the early 70's. He was one of the great teachers that really stand out for me. I thought he was "cool" and that is saying a lot for a middle schooler to think about a teacher. Condolences to you all.
My condolences to your family. I have so many fond memories of "Mr. Hauser". I was in choir and took guitar back in the early 70's. He was a great teacher and I thought he was "cool" which is really saying something for a middle schooler to think about a teacher!
What a great teacher! Sing-a-longs at sunrise jr high gave voice to those of us who otherwise couldn't carry a tune!
So sorry to learn of Louis passing. Tom and I enjoyed many fun conversations with you and Louis. Enjoyed being your neighbors at Lake Rooney. Tom also passed this year at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota on February 21, 2014. My heart go's out to you, may we both be comforted with the many great memories we shared with them through the years.
Fond memories of a wonderful teacher.he now sings with the angels. My condolences to family and the many he has touched with his joy-RIP Mr Hauser
What a wonderful influence Mr. Hauser was on so many of us. Fun, kind and a great teacher. I have such fond memories. Thank you for the music Mr. Hauser. You will be missed.
A friend of mine, Jan Hall, who plays in Charles Preis' Century College Community Concert Band, told me about the passing of Louis Hauer. I had the privilege of hearing Louis Hauer play in a jazz quartet at one of these concerts a couple of years ago, and he was amazing. I thought, “that guy is GOOD!” I attend quite a few of these concerts, and normally a quartet is not something done at the concerts, so you can imagine my curiosity and excitement when Mr. Preis announced he had a special surprise and brought in three people to play with him center stage that evening. I was in awe, inspired, and had the utmost respect for this man who could put out such beautiful music on his clarinet. I know Louis will be dearly missed by those who love him. My sincere condolences to you.
I was a student of Mr. Hauser's in the mid-70s and have fond memories of choir with him. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
My dad still talks about Louis and all their adventures as kids...loved the one about their legendary bike trip. Thinking of all you, Molly Gilmore
Mr Hauser taught me the first guitar chords I knew and put me on a 45 year musical journey. Thank you and God bless
A great man, an impassioned teacher, a cool dude. RIP Mr H. and sincerest sympathy to your beloved Mary and family. For me you live on in every note I sing, hear and love. The music in heaven just got even sweeter!
Mr. Hauser was one of my favorite teachers during my time at Sunrise in the mid-70's. Lot's of good times of choir and other days of open mods and coming in and doing a sing-a-long. Because of him I have a strong love of music. I will dearly miss him.
I am very sorry for your loss. His legacy lives on in many, including me. I currently teach middle school band, and his teaching still inspires me daily. I only hope I'm as good a teacher as he was.
Mr. Hauser was one of my favorite teachers and helped inspire my love of music for a lifetime.
Louis Hauser was one of my favorite teachers of all time and instrumental in my decision to follow my dream of being a choir director! He was a great person! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, dad and grandpa. Louis will always be a sweet note in Birchwood. The 4th of July parades remain almost Rockwell-esque in my memory as I picture Louis leading the costumed throng of ragtag neighborhood musicians through the village. Thank you Louis for keeping the music alive in all of us.
With much love and many fond memories,
I am very saddened to know that a big loss has happened for the Hauser family. I will always remember louie for being so kind and fun. Love you guys!
thoughts and prayers to the Hauser family. I always looked forward to Mary and Louis walking by my house, there was always a smile and a friendly hello. Yours in Christ, Sandy Kriz-Herbert, Chris and Travis Herbert
I've come back to Birchwood almost every year for the 4th of July parade and LOVE hearing the band practice as we head to the starting gates at Polly's old house, Thanks for keeping the tradition alive, Mr. Hauser. You will be missed. Love to Mary and the family. xox
