After thirty seven years as a teacher in St. Paul Schools, certain students still stand out in my mind and James Genia is one of them. His wit and keen intelligence shone out in my very talented fifth grade class of students at St. Anthony Park Elementary. We still remember asking him what ingredients were in the very special drink he had contributed to a class party. With the usual twinkle in his eye he said he could not divulge the recipe for "Ancient Indian Secret."
I met his mom many years ago and found out that Jim was an attorney for Native American causes and I was so proud of him. Losing him is heart breaking.
