I remember meeting Paul several times out on the Mississippi river. I would be out in my canoe and Paul in his small aluminum boat. He was always friendly and enjoyed talking about mining, river towboats, and ideas he had on relocating the barge channel. Paul's long time plan may come true. As the Corps of Engineers are currently make plans on relocation of the barge channel. Just as Paul suggested 40 years ago. Many years ago while motorcycle riding on the ice in the winter. My motorcycle broke down just in front of Paul's home on Greycloud Island. Paul and his wife gave me a ride home and offered help on getting the motorcycle home. Several years later my father in laws boat broke down again in front of Paul's home. Paul came out and towed the houseboat home with his small boat. You don't forget the times when someone goes out of their way to help you. I haven't seen Paul for several years. But I will always remember him for helping me, good conversation and being a friend when we would meet out on the Mississippi River.
