Jim and Chris were great neighbors and friends for over 25 years. Jim helped me many times with my car problems and gave me his car so I could drive out of town to my brother's funeral. He helped me lease my first new car when I had no credit, no husband and five kids to feed. He believed in me and help me establish credit. It was always a fun time being neighbors with the Coopets, even if they did call the cops. (that's another story) Mark,Rachael,Jake(the flake) and Cassie(who is Cassandra) You have to keep remembering that your dad is with your mom, and that's a good place for him to be. Can't you just hear your mom...."Coopet, where the hell have you been?"
Love you all Jan Andersen McMillan

The Coopets were a family of seven sons, ours a family of six sons. The only common name among we thirteen boys is Guy. Funny that. Jimmy was a childhood friend and I've a couple of pics to prove it. Look forward to sharing them with his children and siblings this Friday. So sorry for our loss.

The Coopet family lived across the street from us on the East side. It was before my time so I never got to know the family but have heard stories from my older siblings. My brother Hughie was also 63 when he passed away. My condolences to all of you for your loss.

Dear Family,
I grew up with the coopet family. We lived across the street on Mohawk Ave. in St. Paul and Mr. Coopet would always give us kids a ride to school on cold winter days. I was born in 1947 so am 2 yrs. older than Jimmy but I remember him very well, he was always so funny as a kid. The coopet's were all very nice and I always thought Mr. & Mrs. Coopet were such a handsome couple and always dressed so nice and of course always had nice cars because Mr. owned his own car dealership. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your loss.

To All of the Coopets: My heart aches at the loss of a dear friend who was more than that; he was a brother. We shared countless good times at both work and play. Jim was kind and good and loving. I will miss him so. Our prayers are sent to the family. We pray for comfort and peace and the belief that Jim is safely with Chris in God's loving care. Love and prayers, Hank & Leslie Beers

I was nineteen when Jim and Chris took me in (again). This time, so I could save money to buy a house. A year later, at my closing, as I sat petrified and dumbfounded at the amount of paperwork before me - in steps Jim. He had left the dealership to come and stand by my side and get me through that day. He was always there when I needed him. Booya, Jim!

So I am dating Rachel and she takes me to Thanksgiving dinner at Jim's house. It is the first time I met Jim. As we are eating dinner, Jim looks at me and asks "Do you own a motorcycle?" I say "No." He looks away then looks back, "Did you ever own a motorcycle?" I say "No." He looks away then looks back, "Have you ever been in jail?" I say "No." He looks at Rachel, shakes his head, and with disappointment in his voice says, "Where the hell did you find this guy?" It still makes me chuckle.
I didn't know Jim well but it was clear to me that he lived life on his own terms. Here's hoping the entire family holds on to the memory of the good times they shared with Jim and that you all are able to get through this difficult time as well as you may. Bless you all. - Fred Mackedanz

Jim will certainly be missed by me and all who worked with him in the "car biz" over the years. I pray that the wonderful memories of your dad will overwhelm your grief and comfort your heart. He is now with your mom and God. Be at peace.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow, there is a husband and wife who have been reunited. Mr. Coopet, thank you for always allowing me to share a Rachel & Amy story when I'd see you at the dealership. I know you never quite understood our crazy antics, but you always beamed when I'd talk about my dear friend and your daughter. I pray you are at peace now. Rachel & family, my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time!

Your Dad always treated me like part of the family. I still remember him surprising me by having my plow truck completley painted along with brand new tires and rims as a surprise. I am glad I got to go with him to Cancun last January.I will miss him. He had a good heart. Mike Lehmicke
