Dear Barbara,
Sorry I didn't write sooner, but a friend just sent me Hal's obituary. Although it has been years since we played a gig together, I have fond memories of playing bass with you and Hal and how much fun we had on our gigs. I wish you the best in years to come and would like to express my condolences on your loss.

Hal Curtis was one of my English teachers at Ukiah High School. I shared his love for music and made it a point to listen to his weekly Jazz show when it was on 94.5 KWiNE Radio.

I would often surprise him when I worked at the "Original" Albertson's Supermarket in Ukiah because sometimes when Hal would go through the check-out line I was working at, I would mention something about one of his most recent Jazz radio shows. I probably learned more from him about music than I did English because it interested me more. Believe it or not, I can still hear his voice in my head from his Jazz show years on the radio!

Although I now work part time at 94.5 KWiNE Radio, I started after Hal's run on the air. I appreciate all I learned from Hal. I'm not sure he ever knew that. I'll always remember him.

Harold Curtis and I graduated from the same High School in Englewood, New Jersey, although we were years apart. I have always wondered at the coincidence that we should have both come to live in Ukiah.

He was a good friend and colleague. He also worked with me at Weibel Winery part time. I loved his company and conversation. We shared a love of listening to Don Sherwood, the morning DJ from KSFO Radio in San Francisco. May he rest in peace.
